Vic’s Picks: Colts, Peyton Manning, Bulls-Celtics

by on Feb. 11, 2012, under Sports
  • Now that the Super Bowl is behind us, the biggest headline this off season is the future of Indianapolis Colt, Peyton Manning. Many questions surround the former No. 1 pick as he recovers from two neck surgeries that forced him to miss the entire 2011 season. With all the changes that have taken place since the regular season ended for the Colts, it’s not hard to imagine the organization leaning towards parting ways with Manning and build towards the future. Since Manning’s injury involves his neck, one hit could be lights out on his Hall of Fame career. Then there’s Andrew Luck. Luck, who is considered by many the best college quarterback prospect to enter the NFL since John Elway. He has been sitting atop the draft board, expected to be the No. 1 overall pick. If there wasn’t a sure fire quarterback like Luck for an organization to build around, Manning might not be worried about finding a new place to play. Don’t feel bad for Manning though as if he does become a free agent, there will be plenty of teams willing to take a chance with one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play. Could Manning have also played his final down in the NFL? Sure, as no one really knows how the injury will effect his ability to play. The doctors have cleared him, but what will his demeanor be like when live action comes along. At the beginning of the 2011 season, many felt Manning would bounce right back. Unfortunately, only time will tell what happens to Manning. The two most likely scenarios include him playing for a new team or him calling it quits, heading into retirement with the ability to still walk. It definitely will be one interesting off season.
