Huppenthal issues half A***sed Apologyby Tip O'Neill on Nov. 06, 2011, under Arizona, Bigotry, GLBT, Huppenthall
After being called to account for his bigoted comments (captured by our own DA Morales) the Superintendent of Public Instruction has apologized for using an “unfortunate choice of words” while defending Russell Pearce – all the while maintaining that the association between Pearce and neo-nazi JT Ready is solely “simply based on a photograph”.
“I used an unfortunate choice of words in making the following point regarding accusations made against an elected official being affiliated with a hate group simply based on a photograph:”
He explains that he just isn’t very quick and what he was TRYING to do was to quote Pearce himself, who evidently said:
“I’ve had my picture taken with Democrats and lesbians and yet no one’s accused me of being a Democrat or a lesbian.” and somehow “lesbian” came out “known homosexuals” and others who have “engaged in past inappropriate behavior”.
We all know how that can happen.
Perhaps we should be grateful that Huppenthal maintains such a rosy view of the criticism leveled at his buddy Pearce, considering his predilection for freudian slips.
Just think – he could have said:
“Just because someone has supported known homosexuals for City Council, appeared at their rallies, attended their baptism into the LDS Church or personally ordained known homosexuals and others who have engaged in past inappropriate behavior into the LDS priesthood, I never hear that person called a known homosexual”
That would have been a real mouthful even for our glib Superintendent of Public Instruction.
