It might be a good thing to educate yourself before saying what you have about the Catholic Church. The catholic Church has since about 400A.D. had to step up to the plate and many times take care of people, when governments could not. There is some great information in the Book How the Catholic Church BUILT Western Civilization. In case you are not aware, the Catholic Church has fed, clothed, and housed more people in need than any other group or institution in History. Look it up, I guess that is helping society, isn’t it? The Catholic Church was responsible for the birth of both the education system and the health care system you all have undoubtably used yourself! Throughout the Centuries, the church has been the largest benefactor of the arts, nurturing these elements of cultural life. Also, please don’t be distracted from the main story the church has shared for almost 2,000 years, His name is Jesus Christ.

Instead of giving the catholic cult taxpayers’ money the city should be taxing them. The catholic cult has billions of dollars. Also governments should be taking them to court for protecting pedophiles and the child rapists should all be in prison.

I have written my council rep, Shirley Scott, and mayor Rothschild – they haven’t even bothered to respond.

I have also filed a complaint and asked for help from Americans United for separation of Church and State, if you would like to join in.

I’m afraid our City Council is so corrupt that the only way to keep them honest is to sue them.

I don’t know if there is a connection but watch for the adobe contractor who did the Presidio walls. He was a friend of some of powers involved. I know adobe is labor intensive but….
That guy was supposed to do the San Augstin reconstruction too. He was a friend of Marty McCune to prior preservation officer for the City of Tucson.
It doesnt mean that the Presidi project was wrong its just the corrupt Tucson way things are done to get there.

It isn’t rhetorical – it is fact. Money is fungible, and every tax dollar the city gives the church for “historical” buildings or any other purpose, is a dollar they can use to lobby against contraception and gays – which they are doing.

From Protecting Pedophile Priests to aiding and abetting illegal entry and now shirking their legal duty to maintain their property: the conduct of Bishop Kakanas and the local Catholic Church is disgraceful.

The building is dangerous and a public eyesore.

Condemn it or use eminent domain in the name of the people. The church doesn’t enjoy any special status which allows them to ignore the same duty we all have to maintain our property.
