Mindfulness Meditation for Pain and Difficult Emotions

Miracle of Mindfulness
Working with Pain and Difficult Emotions
5 week class
June 30 – July 28, 2011
Thursdays, 1:30-3:30 pm
led by
Community Dharma Leaders
Lhasha Tizer & Terry Magee
Living with physical pain and the difficult emotions that arise in response to it is challenging. Having worked
with pain, we have discovered that it is not the pain itself that leads to suffering, but rather our relationship to
it. Learning how to relate to pain skillfully, through awareness of body sensations and without reacting to the
emotions that arise, we begin to unwind the habitual patterns that keep us locked in suffering. Through the
process of mindfulness we gain newfound trust and confidence and discover that pain can be transformed into
greater ease and fulfillment. We discover for ourselves that our situation is workable, and we open to the new
possibility of more freedom and ease in our lives.
The class will offer step by step instruction in mindfulness, meditation techniques, talks, discussion, personal
inquiry and Q&A. All are welcome and this class is suitable for all levels.
