Another Latino Republican considers leaving the Republican Party.

I have been receiving e-mails, phone calls, face book messages, twitter messages about how Latinos are feeling with regard to Republican inaction of Republican Presidential Candidates, politicians, and/or lawmakers when they make comments that advocate violence and DEATH of Latino immigrants.

The emails began after the failure of the 201 DREAM Act vote when it was discovered that only 3 GOP Senators supported the DREAM Act. We maintained since that failure that there would be consequences of that unless GOP Senators do something before November 2012 to help take on a tough issue by fixing what is broken.

I suppose the Party that claims to be for “personal responsibility” will indeed be responsible for their inaction in moderating extreme anti-Latino immigrant rhetoric.

From Barrera’s Blabber Blog:

We do not like or sit back when our culture is attacked. We will not sit back and say nothing and allow our people to be treated like animals. Our history shows it will take wiping out an entire civilization before victory can be declared. This issue will prove to be nothing different.

The attacks that have been tolerated ignored and even embraced by many in the G.O.P. has been the cause for a majority of the Latinos who identified, supported and gave their vote to the Republican Party to pack up their stuff and leave the tent. I am one of those who identified with the Republican Party because the congruency of their platform and my culture. Not so anymore. With insensitive jester jackass’ like Herman Cain and others who have seemed to hijack the party making offending remarks, we have been alienated and are now in the wilderness similar to Moses after leading the Israelites out of Egypt. Many of us have found ourselves in a dark forest and are trying to find our way to the promise land. The frustrating part of it is that though I agree with most all conservative ideals and would be willing to help advance them, this issue and how it has been addressed by the conservatives has made me realize why conservatism is diminishing and may have seen its better days. I refuse to give my support to the other side because I don’t believe they have the best interest of our community at heart either.

No Latino Democratic voter in their right mind should support State Senator Kyrsten Sinema, District 15, let alone her fundraiser on August 9th.

Sinema is the Democratic State Senator who has flip flopped on the immigration issue in the “red” state of Arizona to “appear tough on immigration”. She tells Latinos one thing, but tells State Senator Russell Pearce (Tea Party Republican bigot) another thing. In fact she “loves Russell Pearce”, because she decided flip flopping on this issue helps her sell Latinos down the Rio Grande River.

Haven’t heard about Sinema over-criminalizing things in Arizona, yet? Perhaps David Morales can enlighten you when he wrote about it, and you can read all about it in the below linked stories:

Now, Arizona Sen. Kyrsten Sinema wants Latinos to forget about her tough on immigration stance and wants their money on August 9th. Ever heard of the saying: Fool me once, shame on you….fool me twice, shame on me? Don’t support Kyrsten Sinema. She doesn’t deserve the Latino vote, but somehow she thinks Latinos are so desperate for her that she is willing to give them the scraps from the table and treating them like dogs. She’s an elitist that will never understand why her “tough on immigration stance” has impacted the Latino population in her own district.

Ruben Navarrette makes an eyebrow raising remark. Remember Dwight D. Eisenhower and “Operation Wetback” in 1954? Dwight deported 1 million undocumented, and Obama is set to break that record. In fact, President Obama has deported MORE undocumented than President George W. Bush!

Do you think that Obama is serious about immigration? We heard the same speech in El Paso, TX, that we heard years ago, and we heard this same speech over a year ago when SB 1070 was introduced.

Yet, Lamar Smith has the audacity to say that Obama gets a failing grade? How can Obama’s deporting of 800,000 immigrants be considered by Lamar Smith?

An excerpt:

Obama — who once bemoaned when communities are “terrorized” by Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids, “when nursing mothers are torn from their babies, when children come home from school to find their parents missing” — is on track to deport more illegal immigrants than any U.S. president since Dwight D. Eisenhower and “Operation Wetback” in 1954. That crackdown resulted in the removal of nearly 1 million people. The Obama administration deported about 800,000 people in its first two years.

I asked Gutierrez why he thinks Obama has developed a knack for deportations.

“He responds to the restrictionists,” Gutierrez said. “If you hear the restrictionists, they say: ‘We will win through attrition. Just enforce the law.’ Well, every discretionary tool that this president has used helps them reach that goal.”

And, in return, Obama gets to establish his credentials as a tough guy on illegal immigration in time to run for re-election.

As someone who believes that illegal immigrants should be deported, what concerns me is that Obama is being cynical and dishonest. For example, after suing Arizona over the principle that enforcing immigration law is the job of the federal government and not local or state law enforcement agencies, the administration is using those agencies as a force multiplier and scooping up illegal immigrants arrested by them to boost the deportation tally.

Gutierrez wants Obama to spare two groups of people with an executive power known as “parole-in-place” — illegal immigrants who have U.S.-born children, and college students who might have qualified for legal status under the Dream Act.

Obama has refused to do either of these things, insisting that he lacks the legal authority to stop deportations.

Latinos are not enthused by Obama’s failure to work on a broken immigration system. Most Latino families know a friend or relative that has been deported — many of which make up the non-criminal element.

Latinos believe Obama lied to them, and he did. He didn’t deliver. Of course you know and I know come 2012 time that he will take all the GOP politicians who are on the record for welcoming “Operation Wetback”, referring to undocumented babies as inanimate objects, reminding Latinos who voted against the DREAM Act… and he will try to use radio and media to remind Hispanics that the “evil” GOP hates Latinos.

Truth of it is — both parties have their fringe elements that hate Latinos, but unfortunately the GOP has been the one where several birther politicians have been most vocal against us.

He will get them fired up, but will Latinos take the bait? Hopefully not.

From the National Journal:

There’s no sign of wavering in Obama’s black support. But in 2010, exit polls found that the Democratic vote in House elections dipped among both young people (to 55 percent) and Latinos (to 60 percent). In Gallup’s weekly averages of its tracking poll, Obama’s approval rating has reached 60 percent among Latinos only once since January—and has never been that high among young people. His ratings among both groups have fallen below 50 percent over the past two weeks; among Latinos, he’s at his lowest level ever.

Against those warning signs, the White House is betting that these young and minority voters will mostly look forward, not back, as they choose in 2012. Recent Gallup polling shows that while young people and minorities are more negative than older whites about their current economic circumstances, they are also more optimistic about their financial future. One senior White House official argues that such optimism suggests a residual faith in Obama. The president will also benefit, the official maintained, from drawing contrasts with a GOP nominee likely to be tugged toward conservative positions on issues ranging from immigration reform to retrenching student loans. Previewing a likely Obama case, the official argued: “These are also the people who will be hurt most by the policies of our opponents.”

Those are plausible arguments. But second-term presidential elections almost always unfold less as a choice than as a referendum on the incumbent. And that means Obama has placed a huge wager by embracing a fiscal strategy that denies him many tools to directly address the continuing struggles of African-Americans, Latinos, and young people. They may be at the margin of the economy, but they’re at the center of his electoral coalition.

Subject: Stand Strong LA! Keep up the AZ Boycott.
Sent: Apr 27, 2011 9:05 AM

Dear Friend,

Almost one year ago, a divisive, hateful, anti-immigrant law was passed in Arizona – SB 1070 – creating outrage among Latinos across the country, particularly here in Los Angeles.

Our communities called for a national boycott of Arizona, and the City of Los Angeles proudly responded, passing a resolution to boycott all Arizona-based companies and suspend all city-funded travel to Arizona. [1] That national boycott is working!

But now, L.A. city officials are on the verge of awarding $106 million of our tax dollars to one of Arizona’s largest companies: Honeywell International.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, City Council President Garcetti, and other council members are about to break their promise, and betray our communities in the process. Will you join us in telling them to stop the Honeywell deal and write a strong ordinance that restricts city contracts with Arizona-based companies?

http://act.presente.org/sign/honeywell?referring_akid=342.20951.PlYupT&source=taf

Honeywell’s $106 million dollar bid to maintain the L.A. Waste Water Treatment Plant is a bad idea for L.A. There are certainly other viable companies not based in Arizona that can do the job.

L.A. is home to more Latinos than any other community in the country and should be a model to the rest of the nation when it comes to standing up for immigrant rights. After the boycott resolution passed last year, the City Attorney was instructed to draft an ordinance restricting city contracts with Arizona-based companies. But this never happened.

Tell the City of Los Angeles that we don’t want just words, we want action to protect immigrant rights. Ask Mayor Villaraigosa and city council members to pass an ordinance that will enforce the boycott of all Arizona-based companies.

Don’t take it from me….take it from David Morales who is a Democrat.

Kyrsten succeeded in getting tough on illegal immigration. She did it folks….this Democratic legislator pulled it off! She is now one of “them”…a tea party person and a politician who wants to get popular by bashing the immigrant. Senator Sinema is the same person who wrote the original language that gave Sheriff Joe Arpaio is powers because the originial bill she wrote was so poorly written.

Don’t you love those Democrats who pretend to be the friend of the immigrant but boasts of getting tough on immigration? That’s Sinema for you. We are not surprised though, she proclaims her love for Senator Russell Pearcce (who is the sponsor of SB 1070 – the harsh anti-immigrant law). You can hear her love for Pearce here.

From the AZ Republic.

Gov. Jan Brewer signed into law a proposal that would make it a felony to use forgery to rent or buy a home to be used as an immigrant-smuggling “drop house.”

The bill signed on Monday by the governor would make the offense punishable by up to seven years in prison.

Drop houses are homes, apartments or motel rooms where immigrant smugglers hide their customers after they have crossed the border but before they are sent to destinations across the country.

Kyrsten Sinema is the worst Arizona Democratic Senator because she sponsored an anti-immigrant bil SB 1225 despite several pleas from her own constituents to stop it. In fact, several of her own Latino Democrats who voted for her were enraged as they interrupted her own SB 1225 press conference. They chanted to her, “No Mas, No Mas”, which means no more anti-immigrant laws. Arizona is already notorious for the anti-immigration laws and Sinema wants in on that. When they chanted and plead against her, Sinema had them removed and arrested. That’s an elitist Democrat for you. If you don’t behave they will have you taken away or arrested.

We all know that Sinema is “appearing tough on immigration” because she wants to run for Congress in the future. She wants to get on the anti-immigrant bandwagon, too.

David Morales is a Democratic activist from Arizona and he is livid with State Senator Kyrsten Sinema for “appearing tough on immigration”. He writes:

SB1225, which I have written plenty about, and which has been put on the anti-immigration list by Latino activists and organizations such as Border Action Network, was written by a Democrat.

Kyrsten Sinema lauds her bill as one that gets “tough on immigration.” Sinema also gets the honor of being the only Democrat to write a bill this year that is on the anti-immigrant list….You can see the ads now… deep voice… “Kyrsten Sinema voted to get TOUGH on immigration.”

To do so required having 10 TEA Party sponsors, people like Ron Gould, Scott Bundgaard and Frank Antenori.

Sinema can kill her own bill before it reaches the Governor’s desk, and she has been asked to MULTIPLE times. She doesn’t want to do that though because she wants to appear tough on immigration even though the law is already on the books, she wants to be part of the over-criminalization team. I encourage you not to listen to me, a Republican….nay, take a look at what a Democrat has to say about his own here.

WE HAVE THE WHOLE VIDEO OF SINEMA MAKING SURE HER OWN LATINO DEMOCRATIC VOTERS WERE ARRESTED AND ESCORTED OUT.

We know that Kyrsten Sinema wants to be the good cop on SB 1225, while Russell Pearce gets to play the bad cop in developing a brown list banning people from the Senate building, and preventing people from attending more press conferences. Kyrsten basically told everyone at the Arizona capitol of her own self-inflicted chaos due to her own fellow Democratic Latino voters revolting against a bill she sponsored — SB 1225.

Kyrsten was already forgiven by her Latino Democratic supporters when she wrote a bill that in essence allowed Jonathan Patton to run with it and eventually led Joe Arpaio to receive his powers. Now she wants to do the same thing with SB 1225. Kyrsten Sinema is in the business (along with Pearce) in over-criminalizing laws that are already on the books. She wants to appear “tough on immigration” so that she can run for Congress.

Here is more footage of the SB 1225 event. We have another video of Kyrsten answering a reporter’s question on why Latino Democrats are revolting against her own sponsored bill.

P.S. The people chanting “no mas” and “no more” are Latino Democrats who are fed up with the over-criminalization of anti-immigrant bills. Sinema should do her job and work on our broken budget and solving the bankruptcy condition of Arizona.

Dear Gente:

We have a year and a half to increase our political clout. We do this by getting ready and registering our cousins, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters and friends who are eligible. Be sure to put them all on the early ballot system. We should all ask for early ballots, that way you don’t have to fuss with getting away from work, and you receive your ballot in your mail box (in several states).

The reason why we are in this political mess that is filled with anti-Latino sentiment is because we are “asleep”. I hear so many of you complain about the tea party whackos, however, we don’t motivate ourselves to vote in the PRIMARY ELECTION seasons. We cannot afford to let these extremists get anymore control. Latinos bring “moderation” to the table and these stinkin’ politicians know it.

Those of you who are Hispanic Republicans, grab a buddy or family members and register them to vote if they are not registered. If they don’t want to register as a Republican, register them as Independent, Libertarian, or Democrat — it doesn’t matter, as long as they vote. Get them on the early ballot voting system and tell them to vote during the primary elections. If we can increase and register more Latino Republicans, have them contact SOMOS REPUBLICANS so that we can tell our new voters how to become a GOP leader within their states. We change the face of the Party from within and restore our sole back to the Party of Abe Lincoln. As a Hispanic Republican….naturally I would prefer to see more Latino Republicans, but understand why they don’t. Russell Pearce, Joe Arpaio, JD Hayworth, Tom Tancredo have done a superb job at destroying the image of my Party.

Those of you who are Democratic, same with you, grab a buddy or family members and register them to vote if they are not registered. Several Latinos are registered as Democratic, so there should be more of you who should be Precinct Committeemen or Delegates. Contact the DNC and tell them you want to hold a leadership within the Democratic Party and demand to find out why there aren’t more Latinos in this role. The way I figure it, Democratic leaders WANT you to be asleep during the primary elections so that the far left liberals can leave you with a choice of voting for the most liberal person during the general election. In fact, we are now witnessing a Democratic Senator in Arizona wanting to appear “tough on…immigration” now — her name is Kyrsten Sinema.

We cannot complain if we do not vote during the Primary Elections. We will have a 2012 Hispanic Friendly voting guide that will make it easy for Latinos to vote based on our list. The Hispanic voting guide will be based on Politicians who have supported our community. Politicians who are up for re-election and who have supported anti-immigrant legislation will end up on our UN-friendly list.

Start preparing now. Every free Latino open concert in Dallas, Ft Worth, San Antonio, Brownsville, Los Angeles, Miami-Dade, Tallahassee, Denver, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, New York, Des Moines, Phoenix, Tucson, Chicago, Salt Lake, and more should have a registration table at these events. Get with your pastors and find out when their events are and coordinate a table set up to register more gente.

Are you angry and fed up enough? Will you convert your anger into something productive and more influential? Then get out the Hispanic vote. Go to the Post Office, and register every single one of your family members in preparation of the upcoming 2012 elections, except THIS TIME VOTE IN THE PRIMARY ELECTIONS. Vote for politicians who are Hispanic-friendly, and then feel good about registering every eligible person in your family (we have large families) because you did something to counter the extremism we are all witnessing.

Yours,

DeeDee Garcia Blase

Hispanic leaders and activists have been writing Senator Sinema emails telling her to kill SB 1225 to no avail. She has been ignoring Latino Democrats and the Hispanic Community. The Latino community voiced their opinions against Sinema yesterday at her SB 1225 press conference (the Arizona anti-Latino day where Pearce launched his massive omnibus bill).

I have said it before and I will say it again….the Latino Community is fed up with the over-criminalization of anti-immigrant laws, and Sinema sponsored another bill that will “break rank” amongst Arizona Democratic legislators with regard to “getting tough on…immigration”.

Sinema wants Latino Democrats to be good little Hispanics and accept all actions she makes even if she wants to appear “tough on….immigration”. Bottom line, we think Sinema wants to run for Congress, and she thinks she has to “appear tough on immigration” while selling Latinos down the Rio Grande River with regard to SB 1225. She boasts of the “charity” she gave to Hispanics, but when the Latino Community voices their opinion against yet another anti-immigrant law THAT SHE SPONSORED, she wants them to shut up and take it….after all…..she has her eyes set on a higher future political position.

If Sinema does not kill her SB 1225, she will go down in history as “breaking rank” from the Democratic legislators (like Steve Gallardo) who is an Arizona legislator who doesn’t use Latinos on issues (immigration) near and dear to our hearts. Sinema ought to take notes from her own cohort and Latino legislator — Steve Gallardo. If she doesn’t want to take notes from Steve Gallardo (because she has an elitest attitude)…..then perhaps she should seek the guidance of a respectable blue dog Democrat like Felecia Rotellini. Felecia has class and knows how to maintain relationships which Sinema should learn from.

Below you will see a video of Sinema asking the police to remove Carlos Galindo, Hispanic Democratic activist who has a Democratic-leaning radio program, and 3 other Hispanic voters who voted for her. Needless to say…..they will not be voting for her again.
