Since when did the Latter Day Saints (LDS) Church support State Senator Russell Pearce’s stance on SB 1070? Pearce is lying about the Mormon position on immigration and it’s time to set the record straight. The LDS community supports the UTAH COMPACT, and Pearce does not. He told several witnesses at a Tea Party gathering that he does NOT support the Utah Compact. If Pearce supported the Utah Compact, then why hasn’t he returned our numerous calls when we asked him to support the Arizona Compact which has precisely the same language as the Utah Compact.
Pearce is lying, and he continues to destroy the image of the Mormon Church. So is Mitt Romney, who is a member of the LDS Church. Mitt Romney is on the record for wanting to send all the undocumented immigrants back to the where they came from. Extremist, Russell Pearce and Mitt Romney are unmerciful towards fellow mankind.
From SOMOS REPUBLICANS:
Latino GOP Group Blasts Russell Pearce for Latter Day Saints (LDS) / Mormon Statement
For Immediate Release
13 October 2011
Arizona State Senator Russell Pearce appears to be mendacious about the stance of the LDS Community. Indeed Russell Pearce told Tea Party supporters in Mesa, Arizona he does not support the Utah Compact in front of numerous witnesses.
We support the Arizona Compact which is precisely modeled after the Utah Compact, and we have already secured a State Senate sponsor to this regard; however, if Russell Pearce supports the Utah Immigration stance, then why hasn’t Russell Pearce responded to SOMOS when we asked him to support the Arizona Compact? It is common knowledge that there was very strong LDS Utah support behind the Utah Compact. It is unfortunate that Russell Pearce continues to give Mormons a bad image with his non-compassionate stance against Latinos and immigrants. The LDS community thrives from their missionary work in Latin America, and Pearce is destroying the hard work of LDS missionaries and their image.
We hope to see Prophet of Latter Day Saints Church (LDS) — Thomas S Monson and the Mormon Church support the Arizona Compact to undo the damage Russell Pearce is creating for the LDS image. We have sent an email to the LDS church asking them to support the ARIZONA COMPACT, but we have not heard any response yet.
In this video, Russell Pearce claims that the LDS church supports his anti-immigration stance and re-election bid. We hope to see the LDS leaders respond to this untruth forthwith.

Passion. That’s who we are.
No need to harness it any more, because we can combine it with intellect as it adds a vibrant and refreshing spirit in a broken atmosphere. Our nation seems to be in a FUNK. Being optimistic is crucial when we are surrounded by bad news day in and day out. We have our good days and we have our bad days, and it is absolutely imperative to remember the good moods as we look ahead and will most assuredly experience bad days ahead.
I want to share this spirited note below because it gives me hope. Nobody is alone even though we all feel like it at times. Everyone has their own part to play, and no matter how small or great it is — it’s all part of the plan.
From a Future Latino Leader:
Overton Window!!!
I read this and the more I discuss the DREAM ACT with people the more I believe in this issue. If I were to debate this with another individual my focus/theme would be that this is the most realistic plan that I know if which covers a win/win for both parties. I think the focus is to make people become more aware of what this truly does for America and the people who want to become citizens of this country. We need people to get out of the old way of thinking and realize that we are a vulnerable country at this time. We have to focus on building this country and getting us back to where we need to be. If I look at this correctly not only does the DREAM ACT address an sensible and realistic solution to some of the immigration issues that people are talking about. Then the fact that not only does it stabilize our countries economy, but it would be a boost for our country as well. Do we forget that we will soon have a baby boomers exit out of the work force and how will we replace those empty spots.
You give people the opportunity to do something the “right” way and if they are not able to then unfortunately there are consequences to not adhering to the DREAM ACT. Why or maybe I am missing, but are we not really pitching the DREAM ACT much more than attempting to obtain citizenship? Why are we not hitting up debates and asking what other solutions our friends have in order to deal with and focus on the issues that so many discuss, but then don’t have a solution to place on the table. WE have to get people to agree that the DREAM ACT is a solution and this is a start, but we can’t put out a fire without the necessities. I am sitting here at mijo’s football practice and I am all over so sorry if this does not make sense, but I hope it does.
I get so emotional over this and I tend to observe as opposed to speaking out. I have told **** that I am a communicator and what I love most is that I see both sides and in my job I am always subjected to confrontation! My philosophy is truly diplomatic so to speak. I love being able to come to a solution with people and this has always been me.
I don’t have to win every battle, but in the end outcome I win the war!!!
Damn…I swear I got that off a movie!!!
I told **** that I feel my calling at this time is to get out and talk to the people and my start is going to be the colleges. It’s hard to do some of these things right now and feel that we need to start getting some money coming into the party so we can reach out and I am always open to suggestions. I am here and I will be here for a long time and as long as you need something I will be more than happy to help in any way!!!
I look forward to the future and I see good things happening. We are all fortunate to have a leader like yourself who is truly devoted to seeing things change!!!

The National Tequila Party Movement was launched in Arizona a/k/a immigration ground zero.
At their 2nd rally, Tequila Party leaders were told not to discuss the immigration issue in Kansas on property that is owned by the City of Wichita. How could this be allowed to take place when every American holds freedom of speech, religion, et. al. sacred to their hearts? The ACLU will be investigating how and why this was allowed to happen on city owned/tax payer funded property.
Wichita, KS –The National Tequila Party Movement was happy with the level of support we received at our Wichita, Kansas Tequila Party rally on July 29th, 2011, despite the heat wave and rain. People came and went as they visited our voter registration booth to learn more about our efforts. That said, we were surprised to find out the day before our Tequila Party Rally that we could not discuss the one thing hurting the Latino community the most – the immigration issue. It was our understanding that Nomar Plaza was built to bring about cultural awareness, neighborhood revitalization and economic development. We were disappointed in not being able to talk about the issue that is hurting and affecting our culture.
We believed it was especially important to discuss the economic contributions immigrants have made to our society, and how we must debunk the lies that immigrants are a drain to society. According to estimates from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, there are 3.1 related jobs off the farm for every job on the farm that an “undocumented immigrant” works. Eliminating the “immigrant” on-farm jobs would put at risk many more jobs paying middle-class wages and employing native-born American workers.
The Nomar Plaza is owned by the City of Wichita, and despite paying our vendor fee to the Nomar manager, we were told we could not discuss the immigration issue as well as the DREAM Act. Due to the unfortunate incidents that occurred last Friday we filed a complaint with the Kansas/Missouri ACLU as a result of our restriction to freedom of speech. The ACLU stated they will take our complaint and look into why our freedom of speech was restricted.
We would like to especially thank the Kansas City DREAM Act Activists, Representative Ponka-we Victors and Representative Melody McCray-Miller for attending our rally as it shows their support for our national campaign for a strong Latino Get Out the Vote (GOTV). We invited both the Republican and Democratic Party of Kansas; however, the Republican Party did not return our emails. The Sedgwick County Democratic Party volunteered their support for our Latin GOTV and we are thankful for their support.

About the National Tequila Party Movement
The National Tequila Party Movement is a national tour of concerts, events, dinners and rallies that will encourage a massive Latino Get Out The Vote. This movement is a non-partisan movement. We don’t care how people vote, we just want them to get on the early ballot system, become consistent primary and general election voters.

Remember Lamar Smith who wants to implement enforcement only policies via national e-verify? He is at it again. Tea Party Republican Lamar Smith wants to eliminate the “current administration’s” prosecutorial discretion. The Republican Party is becoming more and more anti-immigrant as the months go by. Smith’s bigotry is fueled by national e-verify lobbyists that receive billions for their ‘large government’ ideas that harm small businesses. True colors in the bigotry department are shining through for Mr. Smith when he stated the Obama administration “can’t be trusted with these powers.”
The bill does not restrict the authority of the presidency, it restricts the authority of this president. Executive powers would be restored on Jan. 22, 2013, the day after Obama’s first term ends.
Democratic lawmakers, meanwhile, have lined up against the HALT Act. Some 75 of them sent a letter to President Barack Obama urging a veto if the legislation were to pass the Senate, which both sides said was unlikely.
The HALT bill was filed after John Morton, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement director, issued memos this year ordering agency officials to exercise discretion to prioritize the deportation of violent criminals and terrorists, and not illegal immigrant students or parents of U.S.-born children.

Rep Lamar Smith is attacking one of the most successful Mexican-American columnists that has ever existed — Ruben Navarrette. You can read the full article here. What is up Lamar’s sleeve? E-verify is. He claims it is voluntary but every single Senate office I visited last month in Washington D.C. told me that Lamar wants to introduce a national e-verification program in August. He’s setting out the pillows because Lamar Smith thinks e-verify will happen without protest.
The State of Florida rejected their state version of e-verify and no thanks to Lamar Smith, we are going to lose the State of Florida in 2012 because in essence he is not listening to the business community. The business community does not want to embrace more government bureaucracy via e-verify without a reasonable immigration solution. Businesses depend on competitive labor, and Lamar wants to increase the wage rate.
Why is Lamar Smith attacking Ruben but ignoring the backbone of our economic engine? Did he forget small businesses and farmers are the backbone of our country?
More importantly, the DREAM Act activists have already declared that they will not trade e-verify programs in exchange for passage of the DREAM Act. You can read their response here. They already know Lamar Smith wants them to forget about their mother and father for a cheap trade. Lamar Smith is NOT in support of maintaining the family unit and he wants to give Latinos the scraps in exchange for harsh enforcement policies by dangling the DREAM Act carrot in front of our DREAMers noses. Pretty revolting if you ask me.
It looks like we are headed back to the days of Sensenbrenner where massive protests were sparked with enforcement only policies. When massive protests are sparked again WE ARE GOING TO BLAME LAMAR SMITH.

It has come to our attention that Representative Virgil Peck is soliciting the help of three Kansas Latino Republicans in the State of Kansas — Representatives Mario Goicco, Ray Gonzalez, and Reynaldo Mesa. They claim that Virgil Peck didn’t mean what he said when he suggested Monday that the best way to deal with the illegal immigration problem may be the same way the state might deal with the problem of “feral hogs” — by shooting them from a helicopter, however, if Peck didn’t mean what he said, then why does he have a pattern of bigotry and racial undertones?
For instance, there were two Kansas Representatives who are Italian Americans that Peck offended — Todd Novascone, and Lee Tafanelli. Apparently Virgil was discussing to other members that his daughter was going to Italy, and he said he hoped his daughter did not bring back an Italian boyfriend.
His behavior doesn’t stop there, we are finding out that a lot of women have heard him make comments that are derogatory towards women. So not only are we finding out that he thinks a solution to the immigration problem is to shoot illegals like pigs…..it turns out he can be a misogynist, too! He sat with them in committees and made offensive statements that were demeaning to females — just ask Kansas Representative Annie Tietze.
Things are about to get uglier for Rep. Virgil Peck and Rep. Mike O’Neal (who happens to be the Speaker of the House) as more things continue to surface with regard to Peck’s bigotry and his advocating for shooting illegals. We have written Mike O’Neal, and he has not responded to us. We believe Virgil’s violent tendencies should cost him his chairmanship of a Public Safety Committee. This is a reasonable request, and it appears the good ol’ boy system is dominating reason in their neck of the woods.
Peck’s violent solution in handling the immigration issue was horrendous, and we have since then sent a letter to Rep. Louis Ruiz to introduce the Kansas Compact that serves as a guide to a healthy discussion when handling the immigration issue.
Both Kansas and the Kansas GOP have received a black eye because of Rep. Virgil Peck’s domestic terroristic threat that traveled across the nation and throughout the globe. The only way for Kansas leadership to convey that such speech Peck conveyed is to accompany it with significant ramification in order to promote public safety. We will encourage Republican leadership to do the right thing to help us repair the image that has been badly damaged by extremists in our Party. Question is: Will the Republican leadership do the right thing? Or will we have to look for the man behind the curtain in order to find our hearts, our brains, and our bravery?
