		<description><![CDATA[Arpaio&#039;s age hasn&#039;t stopped him from running. Arpaio had a credible challenger, Mike Stauffer, until Mike unwisely switched to independent. Arpaio was a life long Democrat until he found he couldn&#039;t get elected in Arizona as a Democrat. He lost badly in a race for Phoenix City Council, then switched to Republican before running for Sheriff.

Meanwhile Democrats are fielding a candidate, which will split the anybody-but-Arpaio vote. The only thing that will stop Arpaio now is an indictment before election day. However that grand jury investigation for alleged abuse of power has been going on for years now.]]></description>
