Pro-Immigrant Group Demands Apology from Eva Longoria

Thursday, October 18th, 2012

Update: See Fox News Story. Eva Longoria has also apologized.

Why do some liberals feel compelled to hate on conservatives, especially conservative women and minorities? Sharing our latest news release about Obama’s National Campaign co-chair, Eva Longoria. Note, we’ve edited a vulgar term she used in her tweet with “–”.

National pro-immigrant Republican organization Cafe Con Leche Republicans tonight demanded an apology from Eva Longoria and the Obama For America Campaign.

Bob Quasius, president of Cafe Con Leche Republicans, expressed outrage at a tweet from Eva Longoria: “‘I have no idea why any woman/minority can vote for Romney. You have to be stupid to vote for such a racist/misgynistic tw–.’ This comment is truly over the top even compared to other recent comments about prison rape, etc.

Does Eva Longoria think 35% of Latino voters who will likely vote for Mitt Romney are stupid? We find this remark extremely offensive and demand an immediate apology. There are millions of conservative Americans who happen to be women or members of minority groups who will vote for Mitt Romney, and deserve the same respect as those who decide to vote for President Obama.

Ideological conformity based on gender, race, or ethnicity are a form of bigotry, and her commentary reminds us of the venom that has been directed at minority Republicans like Marco Rubio, Michael Steele, and Condoleeza Rice. Apparently many liberals hold these outstanding American leaders in complete contempt for no reason other than that ‘they’ve wandered from the liberal plantation.’

A famous Republican, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., famously said ”I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.” Apparently many liberals just don’t ‘get it’ even decades later, though they will gladly hurl race cards at Republicans with feigned outrage. If Dr. King were alive today, we cannot help but wonder if Eva Longoria would be attacking Dr. King with such venom, when she likely owes Dr. King for leading the civil rights movement that won many freedoms and opportunities for success for minorities and women.

We’re surprised that President would select someone as tempermental as Eva Longoria as his national campaign co-chair, but then this is the same president who has made a number of bad hiring choices, and his presidency is coming unraveled because of those leadership failures.”

Pro-Lifers: Did You Know that Planned Parenthood Goons Started the “Anti-Illegal Immigration” Movement?

Wednesday, October 10th, 2012

By Andy Kirchoff (re-posted with permission from Cafe Con Leche Republicans).

Today, thousands of Americans of all political persuasions mourn the ongoing tragedy of legalized baby-killing in this country. On this day in 1973, SCOTUS handed the American people the pile of legal gibberish known as Roe v. Wade, which legalized abortion procedures during all moments of a pregnancy – even up until the very moment of birth itself. Over 50 million Americans have been killed by abortion in the 39 years that have passed since this tragic decision. That is 50 million too many.

While I am unable to attend the March for Life this year as I have in years past, I stand in solidarity with the countless number of pro-life Americans (including two of my younger brothers, who are joining in the March for Life today) in working and praying for an end to abortion. I also offer the GOP my gratitude for opening its doors to pro-life Americans such as myself looking for a political home. With the Obama administration and the Democratic Party at large opposing even the most modest regulations on abortion procedures, it’s safe to say that the ever-growing number of pro-life Americans will continue to be drawn to Republican candidates so long as the party continues to stand in favor of the unborn.

Unfortunately, the GOP has allowed Planned Parenthood and other abortion-aligned allies quite a bit more wiggle room in the GOP since 2008. No, I’m not talking about the nomination and election of staunchly pro-choice RINOs like Sen. Mark Kirk (R-IL) and Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), as bad as they are. I’m talking about the infiltration of the GOP and the Tea Party by anti-immigration organizations like NumbersUSA, FAIR, and the Minutemen – all of whom are either bankrolled and/or staffed by abortionists, eugenicists, racists, and other operatives from the culture of death. Yes, you read that correctly. Planned Parenthood and its allies in the abortion industry are directly connected to the “anti-amnesty,” “border security,” “anti-illegal immigration” movement in this country.

Let’s start with FAIR, the Federation of Americans for Immigration Reform. FAIR openly advocates for strong enforcement measures like SB1070, E-Verify, and legal immigration caps, while opposing efforts to streamline legal immigration. This group is commonly cited when the issue of illegal immigration is raised in news reports, especially amongst conservatives; FAIR’s statistics have been used by Bill O’Reilly, Gov. Jan Brewer of AZ, and Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), among many others. It’s the largest and most well-funded organization of its type in the country.

FAIR was started by a man named John Tanton, who founded Planned Parenthood of Northern Michigan back in 1972. He continues to openly advocate for abortion, as his letters to supporters indicate quite clearly. His racism and anti-Catholic prejudice is clearly documented. But FAIR’s connections to the abortion rights movement run far deeper than Tanton; FAIR’s Board of Directors is a veritable laundry list of abortion advocates and pro-choice stalwarts. Sarah G. Epstein, FAIR’s Secretary, is on the Board for Planned Parenthood in Washington State. Alan Weeden, another member of FAIR’s Board of Directors, has connections with Planned Parenthood International. Rep. Brian Bilbray (R-CA), head of FAIR’s political outreach, is a pro-choice Republican. There’s even Joyce Tarnow, a Florida abortionist who famously said Haitian earthquake victims should “stew in their own juices,”who was until very recently listed on FAIR’s website as a member of their Board of Directors.

Another prominent “anti-illegal immigration” organization that is playing a particularly outsized role in the current GOP presidential primary is NumbersUSA, headed by Roy Beck. Beck is a close friend of John Tanton, and his website has advocated for “family planning services” (read: abortion). NumbersUSA is not content to end illegal immigration; for them, virtually all immigration must be slowed down or stopped. Unsurprisingly, this extreme and economically detrimental position has led many a racist into the ranks of the organization, and John Tanton has kept his close eye on the organization the entire time. NumbersUSA, too, has been actively supported and even cited by some grassroots conservative activists and tea party groups – a fact that should make every pro-life Republican and tea partier shiver.

It may not be immediately obvious to pro-lifers that abortion advocates and eugenicists should be so interested in immigration issues. I myself was incredulous when evidence of this connection was first presented to me. Since when does Planned Parenthood’s racist, abortion-supporting agenda have anything to do with immigration? Well, as anyone who’s viewed Maafa21 can tell you, the pro-choice movement has always about racism and eugenics, not empowering women, and the “anti-illegal immigration” movement has never been about “border security,” either. Allowing women to kill their own children is not a promotion of “women’s rights.” Likewise, allowing government to enter people’s homes and detain and/or separate them from their families does absolutely nothing to improve border security. Both acts do, however, violate human dignity – something the government is supposed to defend and protect, not violate.

Pro-life conservatives owe it to themselves to confront this menace head on. Conservative politicians cannot be allowed to advocate for Planned Parenthood’s agenda, whether its abortion “rights” or enforcing “the law.” Lincoln and Reagan had no place for such things, and neither should we.

Pro-Immigrant Group Slams Actor John Leguizamo for Comparing Latinos to “Cockroaches”

Tuesday, October 9th, 2012

Recently actor John Leguizamo stated ”Latin people for Republicans are like roaches for raid” and “It doesn’t make sense. [Republicans are] not for us. You’re not for my values.”

Bob Quasius, President of pro-immigrant GOP group Cafe Con Leche Republicans, today called upon Leguizamo to apologize, stating “We are appalled that John Leguizamo compared “cockroaches” and “Latinos”, inferring that Republicans view Latinos as “cockroaches.” Nothing could be further from the truth. Polls consistently show that a majority of Republicans support immigration reform, and support levels for both immigration reform and immigration enforcement are not much different than Americans in general. PEW Research’s May 2011 poll found that even among “staunch conservatives”, a 49%/49% split support immigration reform including a path to legalization for unauthorized immigrants.

Latino Republicans continue to be elected to high public offices, and several Latinos were high profile speakers at the recent Republican National Convention, including American’s first Hispanic woman governor, Susana Martinez, and Senator Marco Rubio, who introduced Mitt Romney, and was on Mitt Romney’s short list of vice-presidential running mates.

Pew Hispanic polls consistently find that more than 60% of Latinos are center-right ideologically, showing that Latino values are more in-line with Republican Party values than the Democratic Party. Perhaps if John Leguizamo and Eva Longoria spent less time among Holloywood liberal elites they would be more in touch with mainstream Latino values.

We find it particularly galling that Hollywood liberals like John Leguizamo and Eva Longoria continue to ‘put lip stick on a pig’ by praising Obama. The Obama administration has deported more immigrants than any other president, utterly failed to lead on immigration reform, aggressively rolled out secure communities, which fuels racial profiling and has resulted in the false arrest of thousands of Latino citizens, and has denied U.S. passports to thousands of midwife birthed Latino citizens from South Texas. Obama is one of our worst presidents in modern history.

We predict Mitt Romney will do better than expected among Latinos in November. Many Latinos are seeing through Obama’s empty promises and fakery on immigration, and the need to have competent leadership in the White House to turn around our dismal economy.”

Are Immigrants Really a Drain on Taxpayers?

Monday, October 1st, 2012

by Bob Quasius (re-posted with permission from Cafe Con Leche Republicans)

This myth has been around for a long time and often leads to bad immigration policy based on deeply flawed data. It’s worthwhile to look at today’s myths in a historical context, as the same cycle of anti-immigrant propaganda, public hysteria, and the enactment of bad policy repeats itself.

The Dillingham Commission reported in the early 20th century that “new” immigrants (i.e. those from Southern and Eastern Europe) were draining society, lowering wages, increasing crime rates, etc. A few years later in 1916, the book “The Passing of the Great Race; or, The racial basis of European history” was published by early modern progressive Madison Grant, which argued Europeans from Southern and Eastern Europe were inferior to “Nordics.” This book is one of the most infamous works on scientific racism, and Madison Grant played an active role in crafting anti-immigrant and anti-miscegenation legislation.

Grant was also a Vice-President of the Immigration Restriction League that led the drive to severely limit immigration, particularly from Southern and Easter Europe, leading to the 1921 Emergency Quota Law and Immigration Act of 1924, including the National Origins Act, and Asian Exclusion Act, which extended prohibitions against immigration from China and India to all Asians. Within several years of these acts, illegal immigrants from Southern and Eastern Europe totaled several million, who then were “inspected” (given amnesty) and naturalized. None of the dire consequences warned by the Dillingham Commission ever materialized, but the now familiar claims that ‘today’s’ immigrants are different than our parents and grandparents is a cycle.

The Immigration Restriction League, which was at the forefront of imposing severe restrictions on non-desirable immigration was heavily funded by the Pioneer Fund, which funds “scientific study of heredity and human differences”, in other words race and ethnicity. The Pioneer Fund also heavily funded the Federation of Americans for Immigration Reform, the flagship of a network of organizations founded by eugenicist John Tanton, such as the Center for Immigration Studies, U.S. English, Pro English, and NumbersUSA.

Tanton, like his ideological grandfather Madison Grant, is a conservationist, a big believer in the long discredited psuedo-science known as eugenics, and a progressive who believes government should be heavily involved in population control through abortion, immigration restriction, etc. Progressives are ‘spot on’ about Tanton’s bigotry, but they usually fail to mention that Tanton is a progressive, not a conservative, as shown by his resume emphasizing environmental and conservation causes, as well as leadership positions in Planned Parenthood and Zero Population Growth, hardly conservative causes.

Part of Tanton’s messaging resonates with many conservatives, the part calling for strict enforcement of immigration laws. However, few conservatives are calling for drastic reductions in legal immigration, or a ten year timeout on all immigration. ‘Personal responsibility’ and the ‘rule of law’ are core conservative values, which is why immigration enforcement has resonated with conservatives so much in recent years.

Tanton first sought to co-opt Planned Parenthood and Sierra Club with his immigration reduction agenda, before turning to co-opting conservatives, because Tanton ideologically is a progressive in the tradition of Madison Grant. The Tanton network is an unholy alliance of population control progressives and white nationalists. As with Tanton’s ideological grandfather, Madison Grant, the weapons in Tanton’s arsenal include propaganda against immigrants based largely on jazzed up statistics, constant repetition of age-old myths about immigrants, fear mongering, and outright lies.

Alex Nowrasteh of the conservative Competitive Enterprise Institute debunked much of FAIR’s recent propaganda in a recent Huffington Post op-ed. FAIR’s statistics are deeply flawed, and never include contributions from immigrants and their U.S. born children. This excerpt says it all:

The Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) is a stridently anti-immigration organization that wants to substantially decrease legal and unauthorized immigration to the United States. It frequently makes inaccurate claims about immigrants. Its most egregious economic claim is that unauthorized immigrants cost American state, local, and federal governments about $113 billion a year. This is pure bunk that I take to task here.

FAIR’s evidence is detailed in its report, “The Fiscal Burden of Illegal Immigration on United States Taxpayers” by Jack Martin and Eric A. Ruark. Quite frankly, it is one of the most amateurish and error filled reports I’ve ever read. It ignores the fiscal benefits of unauthorized immigration and uses dubious numbers and poor methodology to reach its conclusions.

Every human activity has both costs and benefits. People constantly weigh costs and benefits. If a given action’s benefits outweigh its costs, that action is worth taking – but you have to analyze both the costs and benefits first before you can come to that conclusion. The FAIR report counts the costs alone.

FAIR estimates that it costs states and the federal governments $52 billion a year to educate unauthorized immigrants and their American-born children. FAIR doesn’t compare that figure with the increase in income that people experience after earning a high school degree or GED, about $7,208 over non-high school graduates. That’s $7,208 more of taxable income. On top of that, between half and three-fourths of all undocumented immigrants file tax returns. The tax revenue gained from increasing education must be compared against the increased cost of public education when determining the net fiscal costs.

FAIR doesn’t consider this because it stops counting the tax payments of the children of unauthorized immigrants by the time they graduate high school. Most children cost the government before the age of 18 because of our insanely expensive and ineffective public education system, so if you stop counting the costs and benefits of students by the time they reach 18, you’ll reach the conclusion that children are always a fiscal loss for the government. If FAIR’s reasoning were applied to the rest of society, it would never make fiscal sense to have children, and the quicker we stopped the better for the government’s fiscal balance.

Full Article here.

Now, the next time you hear lawmakers quote statistics in justifying laws to crack down on illegal immigration, check the source of their statistics, as most of the time you’ll find the source is an organization founded or nurtured by John Tanton.

Border Mexicans: Sell-outs & Coconuts

Monday, October 1st, 2012

By Raoul Lowery Contreras (re-posted with permission from Cafe Con Leche Republicansoriginal link)

Like swarms of angry hornets True Believer Hispanics, Chicanos and 70s-style radical La Raza Unida Party types or their children attack Republicans on the subject of immigration. And because these people are purists – Mirror, mirror on the wall who’s the purist “person of color” in the barrio? — these people viciously attack “vendidos” (sell-outs), “coconuts” (Brown on the outside, white on the inside) at every opportunity as if they are the only true Hispanics in the universe.

No observer of these people could label them representative of the Hispanic community under any circumstances. They are True Believer fanatics.

Of the 53 million-plus American Hispanics, of which 34 and-a-half-million are of the Mexican persuasion, these angry hornets are not a super-majority by any means. Proof: Probably 90% of Puerto Ricans and Dominicans voted for Obama. 50%-52% of Cuban Americans voted for Obama and probably 55% of Mexican Americans probably did.

Although the economy and the President’s economic failures are issues number one and two for the country and Hispanics, some are hung up on immigration and the Obama-friendly media ignores the fact that it is not in the top five issues Hispanics have.

So, let’s take a look at how the Democratic Party and Democrats have handled the issue.

1994: California’s anti-illegal entrant Proposition 187 made the ballot with Governor Pete Wilson’s help and the State Republican Party’s $300,000. Wilson campaigned for it. However, if every single Republican voted for Proposition 187 and Pete Wilson, he and it would have lost. Democrats voted for it and for him.

1994: President Bill Clinton imposes a new policy in and around El Paso (TX) and San Diego (CA) the two principal entry points on the border for the 10,000 or more daily illegal entrants. Border Patrol agents from all over the country are stationed fifty yards apart which drove potential illegal border crossers into the mountains and desert east of San Diego and around El Paso.

Result of Operation Gatekeeper: thousands of dead men, women and children at the rate of 400 to five hundred a year for the past 18 years and illegal entry spiked upwards especially into Arizona. They didn’t come across through San Diego and El Paso in the numbers they used to.

1994: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) launches the giant smear against American citizens born in the U.S. that hadn’t been an issue since 1898 when the Supreme Court interpreted the Constitution’s 14th Amendment for the first and only time. It concluded that – any child (excepting children of invading soldiers, children of diplomats on those born on foreign ships) born in the United States or its territories (jurisdiction) are American citizens.

Reid called them “anchor babies” which are defined as American citizen babies that lie in wait for 21 years so they can legalize their illegally present parents. That theory is wrong and naturalization statistics from Immigration and Customs (ICE) prove it. The number of parents sponsored by these babies is miniscule. Reid wants to kill the 14th Amendment.

1996: Democrats in the House and Senate (Where Democrats were a majority) voted to restrict benefits for LEGAL immigrants and criminalize illegal entry upon returning to the United States after being deported by making re-entry a felony.

2001: Dream Act legalizing youngsters brought here as children is introduced by Republican Senator Orrin Hatch. Democrats oppose, President Bush supports. Lost in the 9/11 tragedy.

2006: President Bush proposes Comprehensive Immigration Reform that includes Dream Act, guest workers and legalization (amnesty some call it). Democrats actively oppose it; does not pass in the Democrat U.S. Senate.

2007: Democrats take over the House and Senate. Comprehensive Immigration reform is brought up in the Senate under Harry Reid who engineers labor union-sponsored poison pill amendments that Republicans won’t vote for; Senator Barack Hussein Obama votes for poison pill amendments that kill the bill.

2009: President Obama never proposes immigration reform from the day he is sworn in until today.

2010: Senator Richard Durbin (D-IL) reintroduces a sweeping Dream Act without Republican sponsorship. Obama does nothing to support it; it loses when five Democrat Senators vote against it even as enough Republicans vote for it to pass it.

2012: With Hispanic votes in mind, President Obama issues executive order lifting prosecution/deportation from young people brought here as children who meet certain criteria.

No one knows if the Obama pseudo-amnesty will or can survive court challenges. Nor does anyone know if ICE (Immigration) will round-up all the applicants and their families and deport them by cattle car; no one knows. We do know that Democrat polices have resulted in dead bodies.

“Operation Gatekeeper, 15 years later” NBC San Diego, Sept 30, 2009—

“(Activists) estimate that as many as 5,600 people have died while crossing the border through rugged mountain and desert areas of California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas since the (Clinton) operation was launched Oct. 1, 1994.” Add another four years of bodies.

Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day – Making Fast Food History While Protecting the First Amendment

Thursday, August 2nd, 2012

By Bob Price (reposted with permission - original blog from TexasGOPVote)

The anti-capitalist and anti-free speech liberals may have thought they were going to damage Chick-fil-A with a planned boycott scheduled for today. Instead, conservatives rallied to engage in free enterprise capitalism as informed consumers and perhaps set a record day for a fast-food franchises sales.  All across the country conservatives turned out in droves to wait in line, literally for hours, to come in and buy a lunch in support of this conservative owned business.

Paul Bettencourt at Chick-fil-AUPDATE: I went back to this location after work today and there was still a large crowd.  While in the store, I spoke with KSEV’s Paul Bettencourt on the radio to talk about what was going on.  Bettencourt had been at this store earlier in the day when I was there.  He informed me the LGBT community was planning another counter-protest for this coming Friday where they will be doing a “kiss-in” protest.  Bettencourt is asking conservatives to come back out Friday afternoon after work and have some more chicken!  I will be back at this location Friday afternoon to report on the situation at that time.

I spoke with a manager at a store in Houston who told me, “When we opened at 10:30 there were over a hundred people waiting in line to get in.  It ballooned from there!”.  When I arrived at this store, I found traffic snarls in the streets and a parking lot that looked a lot like a mall on Black Friday with near gridlock throughout the massive strip center. People lined up in their cars for about a quarter mile winding through the parking lot for the drive through. Hundreds of people parked and stood in the 100 degree weather for an hour to get in to express their support and, well, have lunch in a free society.

Chick-fil-A Waiting in Line

Chick-Fil-A staff worked hard to keep up with the lines and provided water to hundreds waiting an hour to get in for lunch.

This celebration of free speech and family values began when Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press and a Christian radio program,“We are very much supportive of the family – the biblical definition of the family unit.” When asked about the company’s support of traditional marriage he replied, “Guilty as charged.”

Ready to Order - Chick-fil-A

After waiting an hour, air-conditioning greets the patient customers now ready to order their freedom meals.

This angered many in the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered) community. Libs across the country went crazy trying to damage this company which probably employs thousands of people nationwide.  In Boston, Mayor Thomas Menino said he would try and deny Chick-fil-A’s applications for new business permits. Remember when Democrats used to be the people who claimed to promote and protect free speech?  Why is it the party that preaches diversity and tolerance are so intolerant of those whose opinions are diverse from theirs?  Here we have a time where Democrats are doing nothing to create jobs and now they want to attack a company that actually is creating jobs!

Sarah and Todd Palin at Chick-fil-A in The Woodlands Texas

Last week, after appearing at at rally for U.S. Senate Candidate (and now Republican nominee) Ted Cruz in The Woodlands, Texas, former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin upped the ante on the libs by stopping by this Chick-fil-A store, also in The Woodlands.

Extra staff were trained and prepared to take care of the droves of conservatives.

After posting my photos of my Chick-fil-A encounter on my Facebook page, I started getting comments from people who were experiencing the same phenomenon in their communities. The manager at my store told me business had been so intense their computer system crashed nationwide and had to be restarted.  In the meantime, hundreds of people waited patiently and quietly to simply get their turn.

Today was an exciting day for Chick-fil-A and for America.  For Chick-fil-A, they may well serve more meals in one day than have ever been sold by a single company.  Certainly more per store than any other, I would think.  For America, it was an opportunity to show we still stand for family values and we will stand up to protect the 1st Amendment.

And… If anyone was wondering if the Tea Party was alive and well, or if we were still willing to turn out in huge numbers…  Just look at the massive turnout in yesterday’s run-off election and today’s Chick-fil-A events. Obama, WE ARE COMING!

Editor’s Note: As with any blog with a byline, the opinions presented are the author’s and not necessarily the official stance of Cafe Con Leche Republicans. Cafe Con Leche Republicans does not take a position on gay marriage, but as conservatives and patriotic Americans we most certainly support free speech and the first amendment!
