Hualapai chairwoman leads through Skywalk battle

FLAGSTAFF — The Hualapai Tribe has one of the most sought-after landscapes in the world: a slice of the Grand Canyon where tourists can raft the Colorado River, take an aerial tour and soak up American Indian culture.
What draws the majority of tourists to the canyon’s remote west rim is not nature itself but a horseshoe-shaped glass bridge that juts out from the canyon.

Navajo bill aims to remove attorney general

FLAGSTAFF — The top legal official on the Navajo Nation is being targeted for removal from office.
Harrison Tsosie has served as the tribe’s attorney general since 2011. He was appointed by President Ben Shelly and confirmed by the Tribal Council.

2 tribes move closer to securing FM radio stations

FLAGSTAFF — Two Southwest tribes are moving closer to getting radio stations that have been vital sources of information elsewhere in Indian Country.
American Indian tribes hold less than one percent of Federal Communications Commission radio licenses. The commission has been trying to boost that number.
