El Mirage police: Woman helps thwart burglary attempt
Thursday, May 17th, 2012A quick-thinking El Mirage woman helped police catch four men who tried to break into her home Wednesday, police said.
Aprilli Johnson was at home with her 13-year old child on the 15700 block of North Alto Street when she saw four men in her back yard with a shovel trying to remove the screens from her windows, Kim Walden, a spokeswoman for El Mirage Police said.
The men, Amir Smith, 20, Terrance Stokes, 19, and two juveniles ages 15 and 17, saw Johnson watching them and took off, Walden said.
Johnson watched where they ran off to and sent police right to them, Walden said.
Smith, Stokes and the juveniles were taken into custody in connection with burglary, possession of burglary tools, and trespassing, Walden said.
