Here we are 2 years and counting into the Obama administration and the minute the Rethuglicans get there chance to gain some power after Bush’s catastrophic administration, the arrogance begins to show. It’s only been a few months since the right has taken the house after gaining support from the bowl of granola (fruits, nuts and flakes) calling themselves the Tea Party. They’re already settling into that arrogant comfort that the Bush administration was so good at displaying. I mean the right is just giddy about the way they’re able to manipulate the Democra-apathetic party and the rest of the country. Bush and Cheney were so full of themselves when they were in power that they resorted to arrogant one and two word responses to questions from reporters or their constituents. The way they saw it, they were untouchable.

I found this nugget on point written in December of 2008 in the Huffington post:

The interviewer asks Bush about Iraq and his legacy and what he thinks it all means. Bush listens to the question with a very happy smile on his face, and says he had to keep the country safe, then quickly gets to:

One of the major theaters against al Qaeda turns out to have been Iraq. This is where al Qaeda said they were going to take their stand. This is where al Qaeda was hoping to take…

But the interviewer interrupts him with “But not until after the U.S. invaded.”

Bush looks disoriented by the question, blinks his eyes repeatedly, semi-stammers and says vaguely,

Yeah… that’s right. So what?

“So what?” Wow. Great answer, huh?

And then in a clip from an interview with our usually invisible vice-president, Cheney is asked about Iraq, and is confronted with the fact that 2/3s of the country have concluded that the war in Iraq was not worth doing. Cheney’s answer:

So?

Bush: So what? Cheney: So?

Well it’s obvious that House Speaker John Boehner (pronounced baner not boner) pulled a page out of George Bush’s book. Why give your constituents answers when you can blow them off and tell them to go to hell with a few words. Well it looks like the Republicans might actually be working their way to complete sentences. Cheney was “So?”, Bush was “So what?” and now Speaker Boehner demonstrates his linguistic skills by muttering three words “So be it!”.

Listen, this isn’t just about the arrogance, the abuse of power, the lack of transparency and the failure to take responsibility for poor decisions. We’re talking about responses given to questions that deal with important issues. In the case of both Bush and Cheney it had to do with the fact that the Iraq war was a failed and deceptive war and was launched on false fears after selling Americans a false bill of goods. In Boehner’s case we are talking about a question directed to Boehner about the loss of a million jobs. A million Federal jobs. His response reflects an attitude of “I don’t give a damn”.

Speaker Boehner cried and sobbed during interviews. He cried about how hard he worked to get to where he’s at, how he mopped his daddy’s tavern and worked his way up to Speaker of the House of these great United States. The problem is, now that Speaker Boehner has made it to the top he’s forgotten about the average worker like those millions that will lose their jobs because of his political ideology.

I sure as hell hope the voters remember those words in 2012 when these arrogant Republicans ask for their vote. When Boehner and the rest of the klan say, “I was just trying to do my job”, make sure you say “so”, when he says “I want another chance to show you I can do better”, say, “so what” and when he says, If you don’t vote for me and the rest of my compadres we will lose the house again and I won’t be speaker of the house” “boo hoo”, make sure you say, “so be it”.
