Sarah Palin Is A Social Conservative?

by on May. 29, 2011, under Arizona Politics, National Politics, Sarah Palin, Tea Party, Uncategorized

That one got a good chuckle out of me. As I sat there watching Meet The Press I observed the very right leaning David Gregory make the most absurd statement. Gregory asked, (I’m paraphrasing) “Since Huckabee is out, can’t Sarah Palin be in as the social conservative”

Sarah Palin? A social conservative? What a joke! This from a woman who nurtured a relationship between her daughter who had a child out of wedlock with a kid named Levi who eventually posed for Playboy and subsequently wrote a book appropriately named “Deer in the Headlights: My Life in Sarah Palin’s Crosshairs”. Johnston has long given us a peek inside Palin’s household and her hypocrisy. Now wait one minute, don’t think that I believe everything Johnston spews out of his pie hole to get his chance at fifteen minutes of fame. Which by the way, he’s gotten time and time again. But you and I know that a good percentage of what he had to say has to be true, and some of it clearly outlines Palin’s lack of morality as is required for a supposed true “social conservative”.

Sarah Palin Hypocrisy

Palin is a hypocrite and in no way represents a social conservative. Unfortunately Palin has now chosen to bring her brand of hypocrisy to Arizona where nuts flourish and so called “conservative” voters elect inept politicians to state offices for purposes of promoting their hateful agenda not just against Immigrants, but against good Arizonans.

Welcome to Arizona Sarah! You’ll feel right at home with the bowl of granola movement that calls themselves the Tea Party, with an inept governor like yourself, a self serving out of control some say white supremacist senate president named Russell Pearce, a media hungry sheriff named Arpaio who has some officers involved in promoting human and drug trafficking and others that violate citizens rights daily, an attorney general by the name of Tom Horne who uses fear mongering and code words to incite hatred against our Latino youth, and last but not least, Arizonans who shoot themselves in the foot daily by electing and promoting officials that have destroyed Arizona and have successfully polarized Arizonans by pitting them against each other.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been to a parade, but I do remember that as the horses make their way down the parade route, there’s a volunteer that scoops up the poop. I sure hope the Republican party assigns someone to follow Sarah Palin around as she traverses our state as the newly arrived resident and hateful politician to the failed state of Arizona.

Thousands of these need to be handed out in Arizona

Interesting article! As an Ohio resident, I have tried to figure out “What’s wrong with Arizona?” from afar and have come up empty. (Gee, maybe I should focus on “What’s wrong with Ohio?” instead – we just elected a horrific ideological Tea Party jerk as our governor – with no provision for recall here – and our legislature is busy making sure we have guns, guns, guns everywhere and busting unions.)

    • leftfield

As a thirty year resident of Arizona I can tell you there’s nothing wrong with Arizona.  The land itself is beautiful and serene, even if some of the people living here are ugly and demented.

      • orion

man i love arizona. it seems like craziness is the currency there now.

    • cochisecitizen

Yes, please focus on Ohio. I grew up in suburban Columbus and I can’t believe you guys elected Kasich Governor. Tea Party jerk? Only when it’s convenient for him, the guy is a complete fraud. He’s far more interested in helping his corporate buddies. No recall? Well, you can always hope for a sex scandal.
As for Palin, I welcome her to Arizona with open arms. We need more people to move to Arizona and buy houses. We already have plenty of right wingnuts, one more won’t make any difference. And please Republicans, make her your nominee for President. We could use another LBJ style election landslide and re-take control of the House.

  • Tex Kamakawiwo’Ole

I like what Barbara Bush said about her,”"I sat next to her once. Thought she was beautiful,” Barbara Bush told CNN’s Larry King. “And she’s very happy in Alaska, and I hope she’ll stay there.”

  • Rick Patel

Sensational superstar celebrity Sarah Palin is a chic, charming, charismatic conservative & pretty, popular political power-player.

  • http://drudge terese dudas

Gee Carolyn, how come you’re not coming down hard on these vicious posters?  Isn’t name calling not allowed on this site?  Seems to me you’re being rather arbitrary with enforcing your rules.

    • leftfield

Terese, this particular piece was written by Carlos Galindo, not Carolyn.  Aside from that, it’s hard to write a epithet-free article about someone whose very name and actions scream “obscenity”.

  • alamodefender

galindo is working for the party of atheists,so he hates Sarah.

    • orion

as an athiest, i find no fault in what carlos wrote. as an arizonan watching from abroad, i say good luck dealing with the effects of palin. i know how much people love her there. it still blows my mind that people defend gov brewer and the foolishness going on in the state house and senate too, but it just shows how easily people are emotionally swayed. it was just getting rough economically when i left, and the hate really started coming out. it seems that economic development and bigotry are tied together there, and conservatives use that emotional energy to garner support. again, good luck az.

      • Jim

Never is the undeserved elitism of progressives more on display as when they misspell their attacks on conservatives for being stupid.

        • orion

hey jim! guess where i learnt to spell so well? a good ol’ arizona public school. thank a teacher.
so unless you’re only interested in critiquing my grammar, why not actually debate something i said?

          • Capstand

Orion, you didn’t really make any arguments besides gushing about on your emotions and making statements without bringing up any evidence whatsoever.  Saying that you are an atheist who doesn’t have problems with Carlos hardly brings up a point to debate and at the very least gives minimal support to alamodefender’s post.  I’m not saying that he was right either.  I am saying though that if you want to debate, make a point in your post.  You’ll get something in kind.

            • orion

i’ll keep my fountain of emotions to myself. thanks for clarifying any confusion it may have caused.
as for a point in my comment? the recession brought a lot of people to their wits end, financially and emotionally.  it has driven people to distrust and hate their neighbors.  it is the perfect storm for palin. she has a knack for capitalizing on this kind of emotional energy to forward her political career. i do not see her doing anything positive for az.

    • leftyinwyoming

      What a dumbass remark.

  • willegge

Hey you are pathetic. She is a dedicated Christian. Loving wife , mother of five and knowingly gave birth to a DS child, and views him as a gift from God that teachers  her and her family what the most important things are in life. She is pro life , pro gun, lower taxes and smaller government self reliance and American exceptional ism. I would call that conservative in every way.

    • orion

wellegge, the author doesn’t even mention sarah’s disabled child. what he does comment on is the fact that she stands for staunch conservative views on sexuality, yet has no issue with her daughter’s own biblical offense. i am in no way saying she should have handled her actions differently, but the philosophy she preaches sure does. hypocrisy like this shouldn’t be ignored. just sayin.

      • william legge

Yes but his lead implies something else. There is no question about her conservatism. Thats what I am referring to. He is using a false assumption to get a point across and I am using his lead to get my point across. Thank you very much.

    • leftyinwyoming

Wow!  I guess that qualifies her to be president, huh?  How do you know she is a dedicated Christian?  Actions speak louder than words and I’m definitely not seeing any Christian-like actions from her.  Please name some.  Loving wife…really?  Are you there in her day to day life?  I’ve heard about knock-down drag-out fights in that family.  Todd is just riding Sarah’s coattails.  I doubt there is any love there, hence Todd’s booty-calls.  She is never around her DS child from what I’ve seen, but apparently you are far more privy to her private life than the rest of the country.

This is exactly what is happening to this country.  It is being dumbed down by ill-informed know-it-alls that go around with their heads buried where the sun don’t shine and are truly clueless.

    • KatieAnnieOakley

Palin is a DOMINIONIST (google it).  Dominionists don’t acknowledge global warming, poisoning of the environment, any of those things: they don’t because they don’t want to save our world; they SEEK to hasten the return of Jesus to Earth and thereby The End Of The World.  Since we’re already well on our way to destroying our environment, why try saving it when Christians can bring about Armageddon all go “home” to Heaven?
That’s why she refers to herself / and thinks she’s another Queen Esther, and will lead the US (and, thereby, Israel) and set into motion Armageddon as described in the bible in Revelations.
Palin and her right-wing Dominionist wackadoodle beliefs will destroy this country.

    • Tita

She is a self promoting, self centered, self serving woman. Those traits are NOT Christian. As for her mothering skills, she doesn’t have a stellar record in that department either. Her oldest son joined the military to AVOID jail, her older daughter had a baby while a teenager, another daughter has been in trouble with the police and she has a special needs child that she’s either dragging from place to place in front of cameras or leaving him at home. That little boy doesn’t need all that confusion and instability in his life. If she was truly “motherly”, she would be home with that little boy looking out for his best interests. But nope…..it’s ALL ABOUT SARAH.

    • allofus1952

GREED .This is not the American dream .True christians do not turn their backs on their neighbors to give tax breaks to millionaires and big business.Your so called republican leaders have turned their backs on the people while kissing the butts of the super rich.Explain to me if the reuplicans are so good why do they have to outspend their opponents by a minimum of three to one.One crystal clear example of complete idiocy is the Texas republicans bragging how they balanced their budget without taxing the rich, they just had to cut 5700 jobs!!!Correct me if i’m wring but didn’t the republicans promise to create jobs?

  • bellagrazi

You’re calling Sarah Palin hateful? Maybe you should read what you just wrote. Hypocrite.

  • bc3b

Tucson isn’t like the rest of Arizona. It is far more liberal and has Barney Fife and his SWAT Team running wild. It no wonder they only gave Barney one bullet and had him keep it in his pocket in Mayberry.

What I like best about Sarah Palin is that she lives rent-free in the minds of numb-nuts liberals like “Arizona’s Unapoligetic Liberal.” fills them with hate and drives them stark raving nuts.

    • orion

I always thought Tucson was the nicest city in AZ.  The city may be liberal leaning but there are still quite a few conservatives there.  It’s Arizona, and there will always be a conservative lean.  It is true what you say about Palin living rent free in liberal’s minds.  She is a sideshow to the process. On or off the TV. I still hope she runs though. Personally, I like Obama.

  • Bigb19

    Dear willege,

may I ask a few questions?  When you posted your response, did you PROOFREAD your note prior to clicking the box titled, “Leave comment”?  I don’t believe you did.

    I write this since:

1.) You write, “She is a dedicated Christian”.  I mean, one can infer that you’re  referring to Sarah Palin when you wrote that.  However, “She” could be Governor Jan Brewer OR Sarah Palin.  Please be more specific when you write.

1a.) If you are referring to Palin as “she”, ask yourself how many “dedicated Christians” have reality TV shows like Palin did?

    2. ) What in the world is a “Loving wife” as you wrote? Is that similar to the fictitious “Stepford Wife”?  Whether it is or not, why did you capitalize the “L” in “Loving”? It isn’t a proper noun, so, don’t do that in the future.

3.) I mean no disrespect to any of Sarah Palin’s children, but, you list one of them as a “DS” child. I don’t know what “DS” stands for.

3a.) According to you, willege, by Mrs. Palin having a DS child in the family, it “teachers” the Palins about what’s most important in life.   I hope it “teachers” them the importance of good grammar.

If you like Palin, willegge, that’s your right.  However, a few political analysts view her as a distraction within the Republican Party.   Therefore with Sarah Palin as a presidential candidate OR a “shudder” political analyst, the Republicans can not count on winning the White House in 2012.  Willegge, if you seek a political leader that possesses the qualities you’ve listed, Christian, pro life, pro gun, smaller government, there are better choices than Sarah Palin.  Senator John McCain distanced himself from her during the last few weeks of his campaign for President.

    • Gerry Mander

John McCain absolutely DID NOT distance himself from Sarah Palin the last few weeks of the campaign, some in his campaign team so utterly misunderstood and mishandled her that it was THEY who tried to distance her from the Senator.  If they’d handled her right, not to mention run a half-decent campaign, McCain would be in the White House and the Palins in the Naval Observatory, so tell the truth, loser…

      • Bigb19

Oh no!!!! A person, somewhere in the world, hiding behind a computer monitor, that I’ve never met, referred to me as a “loser”.  Whatever shall I do?

I believe the word, “loser” should be preceded with the word, “sore” and be applied to you since McCain’s last ditch attempt at the White House was met with a sound trouncing by Obama.

I guess my comment got under your skin, and, instead of sticking to the point of the article, you’d rather resort to name calling.

Okay, you want to play that game, here are facts:

        1. The article is about Sarah Palin and how she claims to be a conservative.   Her actions belie basic conservative ideology.

        2. Mrs. Palin is a smart woman.  However, even within the Republican party she is an outsider.  That’s a fact.

        3. Facts remain that Palin, while on the McCain ticket, drew McCain’s chances of winning, down.  That’s a fact, check it out.

        4. Mrs. Palin lost, easily, her debate against Joe Biden.

So, once again, Gerry (white)Man Der(ierre), you’re the loser.  A modifier to the word, loser, is “sore”.

        LOL!!!!!!

        • Gerry Mander

You didn’t get under my skin dude, I was just pointing out a factual innaccuracy about the ’08 campaign, and polls following the VP debate showed the majority thought Palin won it, and in regards “her actions belieing her basic conservative ideology”, you failed to give any specific examples.  Sorry for the ‘loser’ comment, would ‘imbecile’ have been more appropriate :-) …!?

          • Gerry Mander

In regards my above reply, don’t go looking on the ‘net for polls following the VP debate in ’08- I’ll give you a clue to their intentions by who conducted them; CNN, CBS, ABC, MSfreakin’NBC, all of whom were completely in the bag for the Obama ticket during and after the campaign!  I absolutely remember telephone polls taken IMMEDIATLY after the debate (I honestly can’t remember who it was conductin the poll, so my bad there), and they showed Palin won, but I could be wrong, so don’t take my word for that, but the rest of my reply still stands :-)

  • Gerry Mander

It’s astonishing that the lunatic-Left call anyone with sincerely held conservative views “hateful”, whilst they proceed to indulge in outright character assassination and insane kneejerk overreactions, the Left really need to stop letting their emotions rule their actions.
Sarah Palin can’t be held responsible for what her daughter does in the same way Joe Biden can’t be held responsible for his daughter being caught on camera peddling dope- and just what do you expect the media reaction would’ve been if one of Sarah Palin’s kids were caught drug-dealing… it would have been a non-stop media feeding frenzy, unlike how they actually covered Biden Jr’s bust!
Oh, and by the way, the fact that Sarah and Todd Palin are still happily married after the simply unprecedented hate-campaign that people like the article’s fruitcake author have put that entire family through, it says a lot more about the solid family bond they all share than the nasty and spiteful little insinuations the author liked to put in his article- which is a text-book example of the utter moral bankruptcy of the modern Left, so stick that in your bong and smoke it, Carlos, by the way, where’s your green card, cochise…!?

    • leftfield

“It’s astonishing that the lunatic-Left call anyone with sincerely held conservative views “hateful”…”

Of course, I don’t speak for Carlos Gallindo (the writer of this article), but I would go so far as to “call anyone with sincerely held conservative views” not only hateful, but criminal and amoral at the same time.

You are the people who support the deregulation that puts people out of work, while at the same time you cut the minimal social safety net out from underneath them.  Then, for the cherry on top, you tell them they are jobless, homeless and hungry because they lack “certain moral and personal qualities”.  You are the people who think nothing of sending young people to their deaths in illegal wars of aggression intended to further enrich the already wealthy.  Then you put up a nice monument for their parents to go cry at.  You are the people who think nothing of letting miners die in unsafe mines so that the owners can see greater profits.  You are the people who machine-gun striking workers.  You are the people who rip the tops off mountains and poison the waters and the earth.  I could go on, but you’ll never get the point anyway.

Haters is the least of what conservatives are.

      • Gerry Mander

…”machine gun striking workers”…?  Glad to read your enjoying happy hour at the local saloon, or is every hour happy hour for you, sheesh, calm down dude.  All those examples you give have absolutely no context whatsoever, as you have no way of knowing the socio-political views and affiliations of everyone who commits a corporate or individual criminal and/or immoral act.  Nothing like so-called ‘liberals’ and their rank illiberalism…

        • leftfield

You are the people who stood in the door of Central High in Little Rock and you are the people who stood behind George Wallace.  You are the people who attacked the Freedom Riders and killed the three in Mississippi.  And afterwards you go to church and tell each other what moral and fine citizens you are.  You admonish the rest of us about family values, and then you get caught in a hotel room with a young boy or girl.

I know exactly who you are.

          • Gerry Mander

You have no idea who I am sir, I took part in none of those terrible incidents you described, neither have I or anyone I know been caught in a lewd or lascivious act with a younger person, so retract your incendiary allegations, or, better still, just get a life.
I have no problem with you having disagrements with Sarah Palin, but you’re not talking like a sane person, you’re making wild-eyed allegations that have no proper context or specificity about who exactly you’re referring to.
Unless you really think all conservatives are capable of committing those acts you refer to, in which case, argument over, no point continuing with someone who belongs in a rubber room, but I’ll not automatically paint you as a nut (even though you come across as one), just please don’t label every conservative as one, cheers dude…

            • leftfield

You support that philosophy, you share the guilt for their crimes.  It’s kind of like when you are driving getaway, but the gunman kills someone.

              • Gerry Mander

Okay then, you REALLY are a nut, I was gonna give you the benefit of the doubt, but you just proved me wrong.  Enjoy the delusion dude, if ignorance is bliss, you must be a very happy person… by the way, Michelle Bachmann for President (you know you want it!)…

    • skoksvalley

A persons voting record is not what makes them morally bankrupt. I believe it is the way they treat others.
Is invoking hate and disrepect from either side really acceptable?
I don’t know Ms Palin well enough to say with certainty that she is morally upstanding, how would any of us know?
Maybe she is, but I have no faith in any politican…

  • alanwillingham

Just think for a moment what a hypocritical character assassin this writer is. Clearly not a Conservative themselves, they attempt to instruct actual Conservatives what and how to think, and what to accept as meaningful and important and what to reject…
Sorry… any Political Ideology that condones the intentional execution of innocent babies does not qualify as any kind of Moral Guide for anyone who cares about Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness, or equality under the law…

I think it’s wonderful Ms. Palin now has layovers in Arizona, LA, and Washington. Now if she would just take up skiing, we could get her in the northeast. Only kidding. Thank God anyone she endorses goes down in flames. She’s and the tea party have helped to hand over two staunch republican congressional seat in New York, one of them republican dating back to the civil war. Perhaps those NY elitists know a thing or two about the difference between a statesman and a sham. As for Ms. Palin being a “Christian” – there must be a new version of christianity (one that includes witch doctors) that I am unaware of. Ms. Palin is simply a well-paid shill for the Koch brothers et al. Although Alaskans really don’t want her either, I’m hoping she stays away from the lower 48.

Just look at the in and out migration statistics of Arizona and they will tell a story of their own. The silent exodus from Arizona, especially the middle class, is a torpedo to the tax revenue for the State.  The “right to work state,” has achieved its goals.  A cheap, and exploited labor force and no middle class to pay for the pupils, parks and police. Who won?
Palin is not a Conservative, she is a lap dog for the national movement to privatize the cosmos.  The conservative polemic is a complete distraction and front for the subterranean plans to turn cities over to third party managers. Simple formula really; minimalize the tax base, cause municipalities to go broke, appoint a EFM,(Emergency Financial Manager) and bingo you have a new management structure without having to take on the Municipal employee unions. Magic. Only problem is that our sovereignty is at stake, because we do not know who the entities are that are “buying” America.  You might then have to ask on this Memorial Day, exactly who are soldiers are defending?
The likes of the Carlyle Group are buying water rights all over the west. Is there a reader out there who knows who these dudes are?  They ain’t American!
These are the folks who are backing the Paleopalinites.  It is ruse folks. Wake up before America is sold off while you sleep.

    • leftfield

“…front for the subterranean plans to turn cities over to third party managers.”

Mike, if you’re not already aware, the governor in Michigan is already attempting to enact this scenario.  If memory serves, he is attempting to pass legislation which gives him sole authority to declare a city or county financially unviable at will, dissolve the extant governing bodies and then appoint private interests as managers.  It’s the “Shock Doctrine” brought home.
