Podcast Included: There Once Was Two Activists, One Stayed Left, The Other Went Right

by on Jun. 10, 2011, under Arizona Politics, Arizona's 50th legislature, DHS, Ethnic Studies, House of Representatives, ICE, State Senate, Tea Party, Tequila Party

Straight Talk with Carlos Galindo airs every Friday night on The JOLT 1330. Progressive talk with a kick!

We will share the link to each show as we podcast it.

In this episode I start off with talking about my passion and why I yell and why progressive talk has failed time & time again! LACK OF PASSION!!!

We move on to cover Arpaio’s most recent workplace raid. Interviews with Arpaio and some pro Arpaio goons outside the Old Spaghetti Factory in Phoenix where the raid occurred.

We also extensively cover Andrew “The ACORN killer” Breitbart’s attempt to blackmail Anthony Weiner and subsequently his violation of a contractual agreement. (Audios are included)

We finish the show with a chat about David Abie Morales of the Three Sonoran’s support for the Tequila Party and attack on the Democratic party. We also praise Senator Steve Gallardo for not having sold out to the right by having refused to go to speak at the Tequila Party event that was launched in Tucson. In reference to David Abie Morales, it’s been very disappointing. I’m still in shock. I have coined it, the story of two activists, one stayed left, the other went right.

Listen via the link below:

The Activist that stayed left is on the left, the "other" is on the right and the middle one is Sen. Steve Gallardo, who refused to go speak at the Tequila Party fiasco.

Thanks for posting the podcast link to the show. Due to my schedule, I often cannot listen to your show live– or I would have called in on this one, especially during the last segment.

Regarding, one activist staying left and the other moving right, I actually think Morales is showing his true colors with this shift toward the Tequila Party and Dee Dee Blase-who-uses-Garcia-when-convenient.  Except for Russell Pearce and Tom Horne, Democrats and Progressives are regular targets in Morales’ Three Sonorans blog posts.  (When has he ever attacked Jan Brewer, Jon Kyl, John McCain, Frank Antenori, Al Melvin, etc?) I agree wholeheartedly with your comments near the end of the podcast– cracking on Democrats and President Obama for not passing the DREAM Act and immigration reform is “not productive for the progressive movement.” The Republican voting block (including our own Arizona Senators Kyl and McCain) first severely weakened the DREAM Act and then killed it. On immigration reform, Republicans (even Senator McCain who used to support comprehensive reform) refused to even discuss comprehensive reform until the border was militarized and the fence built.

In one of Dee Dee’s blog posts last week she emphasized reaching Latinos through LIVE STREAMING (her caps). To me, this means that the Tequila Party will be focusing on spreading Republican propaganda and wedge issues– quintessential Karl Rove tactics.  I’m glad so many people see through her. From Morales’ taped comments on this show and your previous show, he fits right in.  Here is my story about the Tequila Party.
