Immigration Reform Then & Nowby Carlos Galindo on Jul. 10, 2011, under Uncategorized
This Straight Talk Tucson show hosted by Carlos Galindo, Arizona’s Unapologetic Liberal includes a 1953 debate between Sen. Lehman pro immigration reform and Congressman Wilson against immigration reform.
The arguments then and now are very similar. The paranoia, the false statistics tendered by the anti-immigration reform proponents.
It was amazing to hear the name calling and labeling of those seeking to come to this country. The name calling and the rhetoric was just as offensive then as it is now.
The show finishes with a fabulous interview of Gary Endelman, British Petroleum’s immigration attorney. His view of immigration reform from a clinical and non-emotional stance is spot on.
We are so enveloped by the immigration issue, that we have failed to step back and look at it from a global perspective as Gary Endelman has.
