Giant T-Rex by Tom Prevatt

This Amado based artist is unlike any artist I have met.  No resume, no long list of gallery shows, but he does have a long history of creating art. Don’t expect it to fit into your living room since many of his creations are as large as your house.  I consider him the GIANT MAKER.  Since 1993 he has been creating giant sculptures out of his La Reata Studio near Elephant Head in Amado.

Unlike most artists waiting for an exhibition at a gallery, Tom gets as much demand for his art as he is able to create and often has a waiting list. When you view the following pictures you will understand why. They are absolutely incredible!

The uproar seared an image of Mapplethorpe into the public mind to the exclusion of nearly all his other work.

And it is that other work – a vast body of strikingly dramatic portraits – that is represented in 104 Mapplethorpe photographs on display at the Center through October 4.
