Museum Art Shool Pottery & Sculpture Sale

Museum Art School Pottery & Sculpture Sale

The Spring Artisan’s Market is open starting today Friday, March 26 at the Tucson Museum of Art and will continue through Sunday March 28. Hours are 10:00AM -5:00 PM daily.  There are over 120 professional artisans showing this year. While visiting don’t miss a great opportunity for a real bargain by viewing the Museum’s Art School pottery & sculpture display just NORTH of the main museum grounds.

I was very impressed with the quality of work displayed by these students and know the prices they charge are a real bargain. If you are feeling a little pinched because of the economy then you will be happily surprised to examine these bargains from $5 – $250. Don’t be put off because it is called a student show as some of the students have been working there for over 15 years.

Rural Graffiti By Diana Yakowitz

Diana Yakowitz’s photography is more than just recording the visible. More than shades and shapes they are a visible interior journey she has followed revealing her inner self. Her new exhibition opens this Friday, March 26, at the unique KUZU gallery here in Tucson.

She shoots few frames and often waits for some recognition to occur. Diana studies her images afterwards and often discovers something that influences her work later or an overlooked image which she views with new eyes and interprets its true meaning.

The images she chose for this show were taken in the past year with a few exceptions.  Most of the  images are from the Pacific Northwest near Seattle and have in common some degree of human interaction or intrusion on nature. If you read the titles you will better understand the journey of discovery she has been following.

A multi-talented visionary artist is the best way to describe Quetzally Hernandez Coronado.  She experiences a continuous channel of creation flowing through her in her visual art and in her writings. The finished work opens the door to the viewer into her visions. Her talent speaks for itself.

Quetzally’s passion for art drew her to experience the discipline of painting, sculpting and engraving at a young age.   She is driven by what she feels in her heart as to the direction to take and the creative vision she needs to release to the world.  Everyday she looks at life as a new adventure to explore and continues her passion “ always searching for a place to reflect her soul.”

She told me that she never sees herself as anything but a continuous channel of creation and by viewing the multiple talents she demonstrates this becomes obvious. If you look closely at all her work you as a viewer can feel this passion. She uses various mediums in her paintings to accomplish her landscapes, realism, expressionism, figurative subjects and in her etchings & engravings, fashion designs and sculpture.

Below is a slide show presentation of her art.
