Book Signing and Dinner? Unique Opportunity Sunday at O’Shaughnessy’s
by Charles Spillar on Mar. 05, 2010, under arts, Tucson ArtThis Sunday, March 7, from 4:30 -6:30 PM, there will be a unique opportunity to meet some leading fiction authors and discuss their recent works in a “fireside” setting at O’Saughnessy”s Steakhouse in Tucson.
Something I have never heard of before is the opportunity for book lovers to not only get a signed copy of a new book and meet the authors in person but also have a great dinner at this popular restaurant for only half-price if they buy a book. If they are lucky they may even get to hear a few songs or two from the wait staff. O’Saughnessey’s is famous for their singing waiters and was recently featured on a segment of TUCSON TREASURES.
The authors available this Sunday for visitors to meet and get an autographed copy of their new book are Ray Adkins, Don Kirchner, Kate Mathis and Ernesto Patino. All the authors live in Tucson and are being presented by their literary agent, Andrew Greeley of Literary Partners and the host of KJLL 1330 AM Radio Show “On the Bookshelf.”
Here are some facts about the authors and their new book titles:
RAY ADKINS – “Justice at Agua Caliente”
Ray was born and raised in Tucson and his old homestead was on the S. W. Corner of Craycroft and Ft. Lowell where the officer’s quarters of Old Ft. Lowell are now being restored. Justice at Agua Caliente is the third in a series of his Zeke Cooper novels.
DON KIRCHNER- “ A Matter of Time”
Don was a helicopter pilot in Vietnam. In 1981 he was convicted for his involvement with a marijuana smuggling operation. During his prison term he earned unprecedented commendations from his work in prison and with other inmates. A Matter of Time is the story of Don’s journey and is now in production as a movie with Michael Blake, author of Dancing with Wolves, as the writer & director.
KATE MATHIS – “Living Lies”
Kate is a native Tucsonan and a graduate of Salpointe High School and the University of Arizona. Living Lies is a mystery thriller novel with suspense, intrigue and romance. You’ll root for undercover operative Melanie Ward as she tackles professional and personal crisis while living a lie.
ERNESTO PATINO – “Web of Secrets”
Ernest Patino now lives in Tucson but grew up in El Paso, Texas. He worked for 23 years as an FBI agent and now divides his time between writing and working as a private investigator. Web of Secrets, Sarah Baker’s search for truth about her adoption untangles a web of deadly secrets. Some family history is too dangerous to be revealed.
The book signing will be inside O’Saughnessy’s Restaurant located at 2200 N. Camino Principal just off Tanque Verde. It is about a long block north of Grant/Tanque Verde. For more information call 296-SING (7464)
