Tucson’s historic Valley of the Moon was created by George Phar Legler in the 1920’s as a fantasyland for children of all ages 2-80. As many Tucsonans know it is a very special place where your imagination is stimulated and one feels they were transported to a magical fairyland occupied by Gnomes and flying fairies. The park is two and one-half acres of winding paths, secret gardens, mythic statues, and stone fairy houses and its performances take place throughout the park.

Tucson’s historic Valley of the Moon is having a Magical Garden Party Saturday, May 8th and the public has been invited. The reason for the party is to let the public see all the major renovations that have taken place this last year. Two years ago the public feared that the children’s fantasyland might have to close. This party is to let them know that the MOON is really shining once again.

Since 1923, Valley of the Moon has been spreading the message that Kindness to All is the Golden Key to Happiness. In 2008 over 30% of the park was closed and many of the original works of George Legler have not been open to the public and are still in need of renovation.  Valley of the Moon is still pursuing funding to restore these and renting out their facilities is one way of getting the necessary funds to do this.
