50 years ago today: Goodbye Norma Jean
by David Pinar on Aug. 05, 2012, under UncategorizedPutting politics aside for today, even I can get enough of politics.
One beautiful lady tragically left us fifty years ago today, Norma Jean Mortenson. Better known a Marilyn Monroe.
I’m a movie buff, and I love Marilyn Monroe movies. Yes, she’s beautiful, but beautiful inside and out. And what a sense of humor – her movies make me smile, they make me laugh. She left us far too soon. I was only ten years old when she died, but I remember it still. I was too young to really understand who she was, but I remember the day Marilyn Monroe died because I remember my mother crying so hard when she heard the news on TV. I asked her what was wrong, and she said: “it’s so sad when good people die so young”.
Sir Elton John said it best – she did indeed live her life like a candle in the wind.
