I'm sure CD8 (now CD2) voters remember getting mailers for Steve Stolz, the Libertarian candidate for Congress in 2010. Democrats paid for those mailers. You really should be more aware of what's going on in the real world.

But, if you insist..

Your kindly reminder conveniently ignores the devastating impacts of Democrats (e.g., Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, Franklin Raines and Jamie Gorelick at Fannie Mae) resisting Republican attempts to tighten limits on credit requirements for mortgages. Weak lending requirements were the yeast that made the home mortgage bubble balloon.

Democrats have had three-plus years to show their economic policy prowess. We've seen enough. (Cough cough Solyndra). Time for a change.

BTW, if Democrats are so down on greedy Wall Street, then why did you wallow in Wall Street cash in the last election?

A kindly reminder and a sampling of headlines from 2008: Government Takes Over Troubled Mortgage Giants, Lehman Brothers Files for Bankruptcy, Bank of America Buys Merrill Lynch, and Stock Prices Plummet. And all this in the middle of the U.S. government's $85 billion emergency loan to rescue insurance giant AIG. But that was just the beginning.

The $700 billion bailout of “distressed” banks, a plan that gave Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and the lame-duck Bush administration unprecedented power, soon followed. Paulson: We need to "remove the distressed assets from the financial system." Paulson, who BTW resigned as CEO of Goldman Sachs to become Treasury “czar” in 2006, after amassing a personal net worth of $700 million during his time at the bank, had a good chum by his side. You see, President Bush himself said on Sept. 24, 2008, that “democratic capitalism” needed serious help. He even admitted that the economy’s “fundamentals” were clearly in jeopardy. The disaster brought on by deregulation and corporate excesses exposed and taking their toll like they did, government had no choice but to intervene.

And here we are just four short years later and the lessons of that economic meltdown have been largely, and conveniently, forgotten. Certain conservatives, the far Right in particular, some in the media and Romney-Ryan specifically are once again pointing at what they call “socialism,” blaming government for what greed and unrestrained Wall Street has in fact wrought. They want to give us more of the same, and so here we go again.

Ever wonder why conservatives have stopped quoting one of their own? Maybe this might help. During the 2008 presidential campaign, George Will put it this way: “Ninety-five percent of what the government does is redistribute wealth. It operates on the principle of concentrated benefits and dispersed costs. Case in point: We have sugar subsidies. Costs the American people billions of dollars but they don't notice it, it's in such small increments. But the few sugar growers get very rich out of this. Now we have socialism for the strong - that is the well-represented and organized in Washington like the sugar growers. But it's socialism nonetheless and it's not new.”

The Republican's main argument is that yeah, under the leadership of President Bush we drove the economy into a ditch, but Obama hasn't cleaned up our mess fast enough.

The economy is NOT "in the tank" - it was in the tank when Obama took office, with over 800,000 jobs lost in January 2009, when he took office. When the effects of the stimulus, middle class tax cuts, and automaker rescue took full effect, those job losses stopped in January 2010. Since then we've had 30 straight month of job growth, with 4.5 millions jobs created since then. Yes, the economy is not growing as fast as it can or as fast as it should - thanks to the Republicans. Since Republicans took control of the House, they've managed to slow economic growth by blocking every single bill that might possibly spur job growth or economic growth. That's because of their publicly stated position that their #1 priority is NOT helping the economy and getting people back to work. No, their #1 priority is trying to deny the President a 2nd term, and to take control of the Senate. When Obama is reelected and Democrats increase their majority in the Senate and the Republicans' hopes are dashed maybe, just maybe, they'll focus on doing what's best for the country instead of politics.

Speaking of an EPA, just waiting in the wings for the election to be over...
http://washingtonexaminer.com/obama-washington-wink-winking-like-crazy-at-epa/article/2511132#.UIFxg4awVhK

"Here are just a few of many examples cited by [Republican Senator James] Inhofe of costly new Obama-inspired regulations that EPA will impose on the economy after Nov. 6:

• Greenhouse gas regulations, including the
infamous "cow tax." The EPA will finalize proposed regulations that will virtually eliminate coal use in electricity generation, thus driving consumer electric bills sky-high. This cluster of new regulations will also impose an annual fee on farmers for every ton of greenhouse gases emitted by their animals. The EPA estimates that 37,000 farms and ranches will have to pay on average a $23,000 annual "cow tax."

• New regulations will so severely reduce permissible ozone emissions that the EPA estimates the cost to the economy will be $90 billion per year. Other studies put the cost as highas $1 trillion. Split the difference between the estimates, and the
result still means the loss of millions of jobs.

• New Tier III regulations will cut permissible sulfur emissions by two-thirds. That will add as much as 9 cents to the cost of a gallon of gas, according to Inhofe.

• The EPA's new coal ash regulation will cost
as much as $110 billion over two decades and destroy more than 300,000 jobs, mostly in West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Missouri."

Businesses know that, if the Democrats retain power, their regulators will unleash all hell.

Does anyone really think that an aggressive EPA, driven by extremist environmental supporters, will ever let Tucson build the large solar farms, out in the desert, that we'd need to build in order to realize Tucson's potential as a center for solar energy generation? Environmentalists are fighting solar farms in THE MOJAVE DESERT! Think about that.
