Michelle, not sure which BBB you work for, but you are incorrect. Law enforcement routinely requests complaints from BBB to build cases against companies that are suspected of conducting illegal activities. In certain cases BBB might contact state or federal agencies to notify them of certain companies that might be breaking the law, as the Alberta BBB says they did in this case. This blog is not run by a news organization, it's populated and maintained by Better Business Bureau of Southern Arizona. We've had similar dealings with our state law enforcement agencies, and federal law enforcement agencies as well. This article is an excellent example of how BBB of Southern Arizona alerted both the FTC and the AZ Attorney General of a company in our area that was receiving some troubling complaints. We continued to work with both agencies until suit was filed against the company.

Hahaha that is soo not true. I work with the BBB, we dont have that kind of power, we merely process complaints between companies and the consumer. The FTC was added into this merely because they started getting complaints themselves. So much for believing that new agencies do their homework, it proves how little research and time news companies put into stories, and how we cant trust a word they say, this was very apparent during this entire war on terror.
