Southern Arizona Consumers Complain about Telemarketing Calls from Phoenix- based Green Alliance

Better Business Bureau of Southern Arizona is alerting consumers to Green Alliance, a Phoenix-based solar panel installation company that consumers in Tucson and Sierra Vista say is employing aggressive, and allegedly misleading telephone sales tactics.

Multiple consumers have told BBB that they were called by sales representatives from Green Alliance, despite their phone numbers being registered on the National Do Not Call Registry. Multiple consumers also tell BBB that once on the phone with Green Alliance some company representatives became rude, and in one case yelled at the consumer.

Earlier this month Sulpher Springs Valley Electric Cooperative (SSVEC) – Cochise County’s electric utility – issued a member alert after customers called and complained about phone calls from Green Alliance. In the alert, SSVEC said Green Alliance was telling its customers they were eligible for various solar reimbursement programs that SSVEC says have never existed.

James Mckean from Tucson told BBB he thought that Green Alliance was affiliated with Tucson Electric Power (TEP), after the phone representative told him to check his utility bill for details on the company’s reimbursement program.

“Tucson Electric Power does not have any business partnership with a company called The Green Alliance,” Joe Salkowski, TEP Director of Communications, told BBB in an email. “TEP does make incentives available to the owners of solar power systems, and we have established working (more…)
