Arizona’s Brigetta Barrett wins silver medal, the world reacts

Saturday, August 11th, 2012

“Sometimes you just gotta do things for no reason…” Good to see 2012 Olympic high jumper Brigetta Barrett is keeping loose two weeks before the start of the Olympic games. Photo Tweeted by Brigetta Barrett @bebe3114

University of Arizona’s Brigetta Barrett is more than just a rising senior. She’s a rising star.

As well as a rising entertainer, dancer and motivator.

Barrett claimed a silver medal on Saturday in the women’s high jump, clearing a personal-best 6 feet, 8 inches (2.03 meters). The Wildcat is the first collegiate athlete to hit that mark.

Barrett’ antics and rituals earned her praise and some scorn throughout the world. As those in Tucson know ,the NCAA Indoor and Outdoor champion is a bit of a free spirit.

The world reacts during the Wappinger Falls, N.Y., native’s record-setting performance at the XXX London Games:
