Want to see more of Natalie Gulbis? Then you’re going to have to pick up this year’s Sports Illustrated’s annual Swimsuit Issue.

Or book a flight to Chonburi this week where she’s competing in the ‘Honda LPGA Thailand 2012’ tournament.

The former Wildcat All-American (as a freshman) and youngest player ever (14 years old) to qualify for an LPGA tour event, sports a four-photo spread in a swimsuit by Bound + Tide By Mitchell Kass in the magazine on shelves this week.

Technically, it’s not so much a bathing suit, as it is merely latex paint.

Cost = $175. She could’ve just gone to Home Depot and bought of quart of UA Red & Blue Glidden and a paintbrush.

Gulbis joins the likes of ex-Wildcats Jennie Finch and Kim Glass, who have donned swimsuits for the magazine.

Second chance, here we come.

Former Wildcat point guard Mustafa Shakur signed a 10-day contract with the Washington Wizards on Saturday, his second stint with the team in less than a month.

Shakur made his NBA debut on Jan. 22 in grand fashion, helping the injury-depleted Wizards (14-38) to an upset victory over the Boston Celtics (38-14).

The ex-Wildcats’ stay in the pros lasted four games, however, before knee and foot injuries relegated him among the Wizards’ infirm. Washington failed to re-sign him due to his health.

The Wizards came out victorious just once in 10 tries during Shakur’s absence (1-3 with him in the lineup).

By re-signing, Shakur (3.2 PPG, 2.6 APG) forfeits his roster spot in Friday’s NBA Developmental League All-Star game — an honor he’s received in consecutive seasons in the D-League with the Tulsa 66ers and Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Not everything about Shakur’s debut was smooth. New to the roster, the Wizards clearly scrambled to get him a jersey.

THE FAST AND THE BLURRY-IOUS

Former Arizona student Kurt Busch won NASCAR’s Budweiser Shootout on Saturday night in Daytona.

The exhibition is the first race on fabled track’s new, smoothly-paved pavement. Busch emerged victorious, but not before nine drivers swapped the lead 28 times and actual winner Denny Hamlin was disqualified for crossing the out-of-bounds mark. The new pavement is said to have produced speeds up to 206-mph.

NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series ignites its engines for the 2011 season on Feb. 11 on the same track. Busch finished last year’s Sprint Series in 11th place with earnings of more than $6.7 million.

.

WAKE-UP CALL

Former Wildcat and reigning PGA Tour Player of the Year and FedEx Cup champ Jim Furyk signed a sponsorship deal with Westin Hotels.

Insert your own ‘wake-up call’ pun here.

Furyk didn’t let an alarm-clock snafu (the ex-Cat overslept for a pro-am and was disqualified for The Barclays) last summer derail his season, cruising to the FedEx Cup champion and PGA Tour player of the Year honors.

Jimmer madness grips Arizona basketball

JIMMER TWITTER

It’s not often that a guy who is averaging 41 points against you earns your adoration.

But, it appears the Arizona basketball team has come down with ‘Jimmer fever’ – a malady not easily cured with a dose of penicillin.

Jimmer Fredette, the nation’s leading scorer (27.6 PPG), is developing a cult-type following at Brigham Young University, due in large part to his propensity for scoring from just about anywhere on the court.

Fredette burned the Wildcats for 82 points in two Cougar wins, including a McKale Center single-game record 49-point performance last season.

And yet, everyone still loves Jimmer…

.

VIA TWITTER:

.

“The only way your stopping Jimmer.. Is when the game ends”

- Wildcat forward Derrick Williams, the PAC-10 leader in field goal percentage.

.

“Jimmer needs a twitter”

- Arizona recruit Nick Johnson

.

“Jimmer needs a twitter”

- Williams, again, and, for the record, that’s not a re-tweet of Johnson’s post .

.

Rt “@mwiepking52: All I want is for Jimmer to accept my friend request on facebook!!! Lol” lol he ain’t accepted mine either ..

Wildcats Max Wiepking and Derrick Williams bemoaning Jimmer’s lack of reciprocity.

.

Author’s note: OK, so maybe it’s just Derrick Williams who’s fallen for Jimmer.

“Finish Line Medal Pic! Woohoo!!! 1st Half Done!” - Former Wildcat Jennie Finch eschewing softball for distance running.

.

“This is some bullstuffing!”

- What’s troubling you, former Wildcat Eugene Edgerson?

“I think I have discovered the problem pipe. However, I can’t get a heat source to it. Problem solving…”

- Yep, that’s certainly some bullstuffing, if I ever saw it. Bullstuffing sounds like a terrible dish served at a Wyoming Thanksgiving.

.

“Just been stressed out lately and trying to hold it in and continue to fight it…the man up above gonna work it out for me’

- Houston Rocket center Jordan Hill, another ex-Wildcat who sounds like he could use a hug.

.

“So I bowled a 169 last night…not a 69 like my brother @Chrisgronkowski”

- Sibling rivalries don’t dissipate with the end of the football season; just ask former Wildcat Rob (New England Patriots) and Chris (Dallas Cowboys) Gronkowski.

.

“when AZ won the title.. i was 6.. crazy time for another one REAL SOON!”

- Arizona forward Derrick Williams setting some lofty goals.

We should all have homecomings such as the one ex-Wildcat hoops player and current St. Louis Ram tight end Fendi Onobun received upon returning to his native Houston. Post by Fendi Onobun via Twitter.
