Arizona goes bonkers, Kick Ass kicks ass

by on Apr. 23, 2010, under Life, Politics, Random humor

Recently Arizona has been making some pretty bonehead moves when it comes to law-making.  First, was the the ban on gay marriage. Why was it stupid? Well, aside from the fact that it was a total wedge issue, a violation of equal rights and heavily reliant on Judeo-Christian views of marriage; we also lost a lot of revenue and Mexico was smart enough to jump on that. So now, all those gay and lesbian couples from around the U.S. are not travelling here and spending

Just say no, right?

Just say "no," right?

their money here to get married, but instead they are going to Mexico and spending their money in that country. Awesome move Az. Ignorance has never been a big money maker, but fortunately being 49th in the country in education we don’t really care, in fact “ignorance” is very much our middle name. So making money is not a real concern, as is reflected by our budget.

Next, we allow people to have guns in bars. That’s right, guns in a place where people get intoxicated. What the heck?!?!?! Who thought this was a good idea? I know, I know, the gun toting patrons are allowed to do this so long as they

Yipee kay yay motherfu$#er! The next rounds on me.

Yipee kay yay! The next round's on me.

don’t drink. Okay fine, but how many people (aside from myself and the DDs) go to bars and night clubs to not drink? More importantly we already have laws about drinking and driving and we see how many people follow those. If this type of law were effective we would have no DUI’s and no drunk driving deaths. Do we honestly think there will be no shooting under the influence? Remember, 49th in education.

The most recent offense, though, was Arizona’s Senate Bill 1070 on immigration reform. Why is it a bone head move? Because it’s flipping racist. Seriously, how many Canadians do you think are going to get deported over this? Nothing against the polite Canucks, but they are the ones coming down in droves in the winter and taking not only the good jobs, but the good land. God knows Arizonans can’t afford to buy real estate in our own state, so, Canadians are.  However, police officers will be asking Hispanics, Asians, African Americans and yes, Middle Eastern folk. You know

Shes definitely an illegal. Get the Minute Men!

She's definitely an "illegal". Get the Minute Men!

why? Because they all have one thing in common: They are not White. This law isn’t meant to protect Americans from foreigners it’s made to protect White people from non-Whites.  Now, this may sound paranoid and conspiratorial and I’m fine with that, but if you really want to test yourself and this law and claim its not racist do the following exercise: Close your eyes and picture an “illegal immigrant”.  Did you see a blonde haired and blue -eyed, polite Canadian? Exactly.  Also, we need illegal immigrants, yes, need. “Hogwash” you say? Okay then, you pick our lettuce and clean your house for substandard wages and no benefits. You can’t even get teenagers to do those jobs. Like it or not, illegal immigrants contribute to our way of life.

Can’t wait for the next round of bills. Yay.

On a positive note Kick Ass was an awesome film go see it if you haven’t and if you have, see it again. Furthermore, go buy the comic its just as great as the movie.

We’re 49th in education, but we are still winners.  We are proud to be “America’s Dumbest State” and the home of “America’s Nuttiest Legislative Body”.

    • Ferraribubba

Hey Lefty: I’m both shocked and saddened to learn that you place Arizona, your beloved ‘Murder Capital of the West’ as “America’s Dumbest State,” ahead of us poor toothless Hillbillys back here in the darkest  hills of Arkansas.
I guess that operating the State in the black for the past 3 years kinda ruined our chances to be down there in the financial sewer with you guys and California.
Yer shiftless Hillbilly pal, Ferrari Bubba

      • leftfield

Yep, you guys in the rarified cultural atmosphere of the Ozarks are gonna have to work a bit harder if you want to catch up with us here.  When it comes to stupidity, you’re not even close.

    • kevinp

possbly 49th in education because we have the weight of an entire foreign country tied around the provebial necks of our school systems?
Don’t worry, you don’t have to invent some circuitous argument to refute my implication that education dollars are wasted on illegal immigrants, thereby lessening the quality of education for all.
      It was rhetorical.

  • fortbuckley

Interesting thought from Glenn Reynolds, writer of the popular conservative/libertarian blog Instapundit, on Senate Bill 1070.  He sees another motivation for the bill besides racism—a failure of the US government to live up to Article IV Section 4 of the US Constitution:

The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of Government, and shall protect each of them against Invasion; and on Application of the Legislature, or of the Executive (when the Legislature cannot be convened) against domestic Violence.

Reynolds writes: “Were I representing Arizona, I’d argue that the federal government is in default on its “protection against invasion” responsibility, and that this empowers the state to resort to self-help.”

    http://pajamasmedia.com/instapundit/98098/

An interesting argument, and one that’s much more thoughtful than screaming RAAAACISSMMMM!!!!!

    • leftfield

Nobody outside of the party faithful who get their marching orders from radio populists buys the argument that racism is not an issue at play here, there and everywhere in America.  Everyone else looks at this constant personal interpretation of the constitution to your liking the same way the far right looks at accusations of racism.

      • fortbuckley

Nobody outside of the party faithful who get their marching orders from radio populists buys the argument that racism is not an issue at play here…Everyone else

Lefty, it beggars belief that you think YOU can speak for the majority of the American population.  You REALLY know what “everyone else” thinks?  Doubt it.  There are very, very few communists in this country, and I know that you know that.

    • BoyBlue

This law (no question it will become law) will be stayed by the federal courts immediately on the basis that it is not constitutional and NOT the purview of the various states to regulation national borders.  If the fed government won’t do it then you’re SOL.  I am NOT for illegal immigration.  But this bill is racist and i don’t trust the brownshirts, er, local law enforcement to not pick on people for DWH, driving whilst hispanic.  I am an attorney and will gladly do pro bono work to get this tossed-out on constitutional grounds in the fed court in Tucson.

      • kevinp

I am willing to bet dollars-to-donuts that you WILL NOT “gladly do pro bono work to blah..blah..blah..”
You will say that you will, but you won’t. You’ll find a way to make someone else (read everyone else) pay for it.

  • Arizona Vet

Screw you and your liberal journalism.  If you don’t like Arizona, leave. You never should have moved here and you can take your gays with you.

    • Carolyn Classen

Blogger Arnie was born & raised in Arizona (see his comment below) and used to work for the Tucson Citizen newspaper till it stopped publication last May, 2009.

    • Douglas

Veterinarian, is that you?  Nice comment, I’m proud of you!

  • Robert

1070 isnt about racism, its about being legal, their are other laws on the book in this regard.if their legal an they have the the right to be here then they dont have anything to worry about..criminals worry about going to jail why i wonder…the only ones crying racism are the crimanals…..

  • Xena Carpenter

This law is mean spirited and lacks a real understanding of the issues Arizona faces.  Most immigrants are decent family people trying to make a living in a harsh world.  The real problem is violent criminals of all races.  The United States has been complicite in the illegal immigration migration of peoples for some time.  There must be a more humane and decent way to solve this issue.

  • CAJ

Too bad…if you dont like the laws here…get the hell out of Arizona

    • leftfield

Spoken like a true Arizonan; the kind that makes us a joke to the rest of the country; nay, the world.

      • kevinp

So who are all of the people that are laughing at us?
Seriously, I hear a recurring argument, that it’s sooooo horrible that “everyone is laughing at us!”
        who?
Why does it bother you so much? Are you that insecure?
Let me ask you this…Have you never heard people say that Tucson is like “Northern Mexico” ? have you never heard Arizona degraded because of its murder rate, crime rate, poverty rate, poor schools, etc.
Illegal immigration is a direct contributor to all of those things, but you seem all for it.
        Can’t have it both ways.

    • Douglas

You tell them CAJ!  You make me proud!  You are wise and a good representation of why AZ is the 49th state in education.

  • CAJ

Seal the border and shoot to kill all those who try to breach the fence. Shoot to kill

    • Douglas

I really like you CAJ!  Can I be your friend…but what does a seal at the beach have anything to do with this?

  • Bob

Arizona. The land of rednecks and morons. If you are racist or have an IQ of less then 80, cmon down.

  • tiponeill

It is certainly true the the Federal government has failed to deal with illegal immigration – during the Bush years the Repubs avoided their duty out of fear of their racist “base”.
The Obama administration has pledged to do so, clearing one mess up at a time, probably right after clearing up the banking mess.
Of course the Party of No will oppose every effort to do so.
The failure of the Federal government, however, is no excuse for denying the “hysterical nativism” (as the Economist termed it) in the Arizona populace, and the effect of this bill.

    • BoyBlue

Silly goose, these rubes wouldn’t know an issue of The Economist if it hit them in their ass.  WAY WAY WAY above their level.

  • tiponeill

I don’t think that many Canadians are going to keep coming here and buying property if this continues.
I’m sure you aren’t going to see Google opening any sites here.

  • stick66

All this bill does is enforce the laws in the books. So If you are here illegally Not paying taxes, using our health services, it’s time to pack your bags time to move on.. I would try Kalifornia there pretty liberal they will accept ya ;)

  • dislocatedworker

I am not white, but I am american.  it is not white people over running our state, taking our jobs and using our government funding.  Illegal is the key word for you buddy.  I will have my I.D. ready. Get them out and if you don’t like it, go back where you came from to.

  • BoyBlue

People like AZ VET above are what makes this gay person loathe GI Joes.  I don’t care if one’s a vet or not.  I guess they think that makes them better than the rest of Americans who value freedom and pay their high salaries and great “socialized” health care.  ”Liberals”?  If you don’t like us, then don’t take your gov’t check or go to the VA.  I hate….DETEST rightwing hypocrites.  My own father is one of these hypocrites.  He gets all 3 of his retirement checks from working for the government but constantly complains about all government.  On the plus side, we now, and, for the foreseeable future outnumber you guys.  Face.  It.

    • boutdamtime

“People like AZ VET above are what makes this gay person loathe GI Joes.”
      Really, BoyBlue?
Well, people like you make me loathe gay persons.  Can you see any hypocrisy anywhere here, somewhere?

      • http://www.themoondancesaloon.com andrew

I hope that someday they find a cure for that, I would donate some money for the cause. polygons looks

  • tiponeill

On the plus side, we now, and, for the foreseeable future outnumber you guys.  Face.  It.
That is why they are so angry

  • John Davis

There is nothing wrong with the law and we need to make sure that it is applied properly.  Illegal means illegal and nothing more.  If any branch of law enforcement does not apply it the way it was meant, then it needs to be corrected.  Racism is wrong but just because we do not think that the law is going to be enforced properly, does not mean that we should not pass a good law.

  • Mark B. Evans

Arnie, no obscenities. Even disguised ones. Them’s the rules.

  • Pesqueira

I suggest a non violent compliance to this law.  When you are asked to product documentation from an Officer of the Law, if you are able, anwser in Spanish.  This may  have  two consequences you may be arrested or a Spanish speaking officer will be called to read you your rights and question you.  Once it has been established that you are indeed an American. You will probably be cited with a waste of an finite resource ticket, $30 fine.

Never refuse to comply with the officers request, simply answer in Spanish.
As American citizens it is important to protect the rights of all.

This is only a first step. Other non violent compliant measures will need to be implemented. I understand the need to get a handle on illegal immigration; but not by violating my rights.

All the good people who claim to be Constitutionist should not trounce on my rights.  I am a 3rd generation American whose family history can be traced back in Southern Arizona prior to the 1750′s.

As such I cannot go back to where I came from I am already here  Most people advocating this policy were most likely not even born in Arizona.

To those on this site advocating violence(killing people), who is the one advocating breaking the law?  You real need to think through the repercussion of your argument. I hope my English was clear.  Ingles es mi primera lingua.

This issue will determine my vote come November.

  • bermudez-shorts

I am born and raised in Arizona guess I have to go back to the womb. People thought “separate but equal” was a good legal doctrine, again it only affected non-whites. Anglos will not be asked to prove their citizenship, even white Hispanics, will be left alone. This law allows for profiling plain and simple, if you have a funny accent and are not anglo cops will ask you to prove citizenship.  I’m all for punishing the criminals, trust me. This is not punishment though, it’s busy work for cops in a state where they are underfunded and undermanned, and its another attempt to gain more support in a mostly right leaning Republican state thats not only bleeding money, but losing legislative power. In turn, they pass bills like these to ramp up support and rev up the mostly conservative populace, which they succeeded in doing.

  • jim kelley

I suggest Bermudez sticks to movie reviews.

    • leftfield

If we would all only follow our advice to others.

    • likeusdude

I suggest you learn proper grammar and spelling…

Nice to see you back around, Arnie.

  • Pesqueira

People of Mexican/American hertige are notorious of never being able to come to agreement agmoust ourselves. This Bill will do what hundreds of years of heritage has failed to do, bring us together.

  • boutdamtime

Its about damn time we start being fair to those of us who live and work in Arizona legally.  The feds with our ex governor at the helm want to keep the status quo and we who live here keep paying the price for their willful negligence.  Richardson and the catholic bishops should shut the hell up and mind their own business.

  • Pesqueira

Donot forget those politician (I’m sorry to say Senator McCain) that support this Bill. Vote against them.

  • Pesqueira

Do not support Businesses, Doctors or Lawyers that support this Bill.

  • BoyBlue

Well, boutdamntime, I guess I hate you, too.  And the poster above was right:  we outnumber you and that’s why you’re so angry.  Remember some karma before you go around hating gays.  Perhaps you have a gay family member and don’t know it?  You are example one of why we stick together and are active.  Oh, and we have more money than you to spend on allies like the statesman, Rep. Raul Grijalva.

  • Randy L

I find it interesting that supporters of illegal people really have no regard for America or our laws. It’s live and let live and who cares about who gets hurt or what laws are broken and what my paycheck gets to buy. It’s all about socialism fpor these people.

Your article is offensive, derogatory and typical of one who has no real argument for illegal people. You depict us as racist and worse because we are tired of illegal people in our country and our state.

You are not a true American. You belong in some other country. Go there.

    • BoyBlue

      >>>>>You depict us as racist and worse
      Well, if the shoe fits………..
Oh, and PAY for us to leave.  Some of us are here not of our choice.  Btw, people against this bill are not FOR illegal immigration.  Are you reading impaired?  The bill calls for local cops to question people on what should be a federal responsibility.  We don’t trust this.  It’s a slippery slope.  I know!!!  Let’s all get tattoos with numbers on them.  That’ll help.  And you guys called OBAMA a Nazi over health care?  Wow.  That takes some stones.  This bill is 1933 Germany.

  • BoyBlue

If all these people advocating for progressive people who just happen to not agree with them to leave Arizona and/or the US pony up the MONEY it takes to move, then perhaps they’d have more credibility.  Trust me, if I could live in Manhattan instead of hillybilly Arizona, i would.  If you pay my expenses, I’d even move to France or the UK.  Create a charity called “Get Rid of Liberals”.  And donate to it for us to move.  You think some of us LIKE living in reactionary 3rd world Arizona?  Pffft.

  • http://thechollajumps.com Jim Kelley

I’m glad to see that Leftfield and Tiponiell have found a home. Boy Blue, Bermudez, you will all have rainbows and unicorns and no murder, or rape or tortue, when everyone from Aztlan can just get the man’s jackboot off their neck. Business will flock to Aztlan, workers will live in a paradise, love will fill the air. Good Luck with that. Puntoret te  Botes Bashkohuni!

    • BoyBlue

I’ll jump off the Skywalk of the Grand Canyon if light-skinned people get pulled-over and cross-examined on “wer yooo cum fruuum”?

  • http://papatodd.com papatodd

    Boy Blue,
If you don’t like living here, then just flippin’ leave.  Stop whining.

    • BoyBlue

Sorry, but *i* and other progressives are not “whining”.  We are in power nationally.  It’s the far-right and the teabaggers/racists who are “whining.” I’ll leave if YOU volunteer for unpaid border duty for 60 hrs per week.  No?  Thought so.

  • http://papatodd.com papatodd

And to Bermuda Shorts regarding profiling, everyone does it everyday.  When we meet people, we immediately profile them.  Some by their skin color, some by their age, some by the length of their hair, some by their waist-line.  If you answer back and say that you don’t, well, LLPOF.

    • leftfield

Myself, I think profiling old white people would be OK.  Stop them based on skin color and greying hair, then if their right arm reflexively shoots upward when you yell, “Sieg Hiel”, off they go.

      • fortbuckley

If you’re going to make a lame Nazi joke, spell it correctly.  “Sieg Heil“.

I just moved down here from Colorado. The moving truck had not arrived so I stayed in a hotel where every maid was Mexican and I don’t mean Mexican/ American, or Hispanic/American , none could speak English. If you want to stop illegals from coming here remove the incentive businesses have for decades, across this state, NM, Texas , California  and many others offered them. Bottom line is they do as they have done, for many years, work other people won’t do for the money they are paid .If you go  to a ski resort like Breckenridge, Colorado you will find a Spanish newspaper, Spanish catering  grocery store cause a significant chunk of the construction labor force in that ski resort  is from Mexico.
I’m just asking, this border state has always had a Hispanic influence in it’s culture. How are the cops going to determine who to pull over  when they pull people  over for ID checks?. On top of that someone told me Tucson PD had laid off people. Makes for a lot of tension.I lived here for 4 years back in the 90′s and I can feel the difference now compared to  back then.

  • leftfield

I think all of you who are suggesting, “If you don’t like it, just leave Arizona”, would be well advised to remember that AZ is a State within the US, subject to Federal oversight and not an independent entity.  Perhaps if you don’t like it here in the US, you should be the ones leaving.  I believe you might find Burma or Honduras more to your liking.

The Civil War is over and your side lost.

  • Pesqueira

PapaTodd I don’t know you and I cannot speak to your character nor do I wish to.
Tough is being a man and not making anonymous threat over the phone
Be tough enough tell the Representative your name before you threaten him
Tough is not crying about “I pay to many taxes”
When you support a Bill that will result in increase police, court and penal cost.
    Which results in higher taxes
Tough is supporting the Constitution when it is not in your favor
Tough is not being demeaning to others because you can.
Tough is having respect  for the rights and beliefs of others
    Too Tough? I hope not.

  • Pesqueira

People need to understand this Bill  will result in brown skinned US citizen being profiled.
It would be similiar to pulling someone over because he has a gun rack.

  • kevinp

Just remember, that the only reason a law like this is necessary, is because so many of you who hate it sooo much, made it necessary. If the border were secured AT THE BORDER, then it would not have to be enforced in our neighborhoods.
You got exactly what you wished for. A porous border, and a community filled with crime and problems related to it.
And just so you know, I think the law is crap, but since it is the only recourse left, I guess we get to live with it.
Congratulations, Derechos Humanos! You got exactly what you wanted.
Personally, I think we should just take Mexico by force. (I guess force would be an overstatement. I mean what are they going to send their army to stop us? oooooh…)
Then they get to see what its like to pay taxes, and not have excuses for being a leech, and we get some snazzy new beaches, and oil reserves.
    win win

  • Pesqueira

To hate America you have to hate the ideals it was founded on. If you have a problem with the Constitution then you have the right to try and change it. You donot have the right to violate the Rights it gives to all it citizens, regardless of …  It is those who refuse these rights to all citizens that dishonour OUR Constitution.  If you believe that invading Mexico is a solution, I donot agree but …

  • Pesqueira

Thanks bermudez-shorts  this was more enlightening then going to the movies! Gotta go. Less expensive too!

  • bermudez-shorts

    It is law!!! Happy now?

  • OMG

Arrest the business that hire the illegal’s and ask them for their papers

  • Canadian who visits Arizona

Okay everyone……..I visit Arizona and here’s my take of the situation:
Allow the  illegals to become legal, let them pay taxes which in turn will help Arizona. Who would do their type of work for little pay…..not the pale faces (I am white by the way).
Do the police have that much time on their hands they can now become immigration officers all over Arizona?
Applaud Ombama is getting universal health care in the US. There are no limits in Canada, i.e. you are not cut off after the $1,000,000 mark in health care costs. Emergencies surgeries are done right away but non-emergency surgeries will have a wait time, i.e. knee replacement/hip replacements. Wouldn’t it be nice to walk out of the hospital without a bill and not pay the $700/month for health care. You just pay higher taxes and more for your gas. Simply math…..and your hospitals will have to submit budgets to the state to be financially sound.
Stop complaining, quit looking for victims (illegals), work together, help each other and your state will be great. Just check out Canada!

    • bermudez-shorts

I like you Canadian very good points. Bravo, bravo.  Oh and I’m going to have to see some I.D. ;)

  • Canadian who visits Arizona

The Canadians are all laughing at Arizona about Obama and the birth certificate. Really, guys……honestly! Try helping the state instead of trying to split the country.
Sorry for the misspelling of Obama above.

  • Globetrottinlibra

Way to get the debate roaring Arnie. And way to stand up for the good folks of AZ- all of them!

  • Canadian who visits Arizona

Hey bermudez-shorts……you can see my ID any time as I am not working when I go there……honestly though…..the rest of the world is watching this. You should all complain to your congress and ask that the illegals be allowed to become legal. Otherwise your poor state is going to become even more poorer if you kick out all the low paid workers……..cos the pale faces won’t do this type of work and do it well for low pay. Your state needs money and tourist dollars, so now is not the time to get rid of all the workers that are in the tourist trade.

    • bermudez-shorts

I know man, you’re preaching to the choir. Unfortunately, what you are proposing requires a lot of common sense and intelligence and well, again we are 49th in education. I can see your ideas actually happening if we were 45 or 46th in education, but in 49th we have more pressing issues like knowing how to read, for when we check IDs.

  • Canadian who visits Arizona

You make me laugh…..way up here in Canada….by the way the snow has melted. I have cut my grass already today…….put my dog sled away for another winter, but will have to hook up my horse to the cart now…….lol

  • Canadian who visits Arizona

The 80% of the people who voted to kick out the illegals……..well I guess they haven’t figured out who is going to do all the dirty work that the illegals were doing. Get these hard workers legalized, have them pay taxes, and it would make a win-win situation for everyone. Lots of their children are born in the US. So if you kick out the parents who is going to look after the kids. Has anyone thought this through from start to finish?

no offense, but saying that the USA needs to be more like canada is like saying that filet mignon needs to be more like hamburger.
Besides, how would your countrymen feel about hundreds of thousands of us uncouth americans “emigrating” north, ignoring your laws, and setting up residence in spite of them?
If you’ve got a surplus of jobs, healthcare, and education, we can happily set up rail service from Nogales to Canada.
Lets propose that to your king/prime minister/whatever and see how it goes over….

    • BoyBlue

There goes another ignorant conservative judging a country they have probably never even visited.  I have been all over the world.  And to wily nily say that America is great and, cue the hillbilly accent:  love it or leave it and rah rah rah we are the best is just stupid.  It’s inevitable that we become more like the EU and Canada and Oz because those countries do a ton of things better than the US.  Period.  Although the breeding rate amongst the breeders in the US concerns me.  Okies having more and more dumb, backwards hicks who are somehow allowed to vote and keep us in the 11th century like they think the Islamists do.  Ironic, that.

well ..ese.lo siento amigos y amigas and right wing  illegal inbred hillbilly immigrants from eurocentric originSS and illegal occupations of long ago, that call yourselves legal citizens…..just imagine your a hopi ,yavapai, dineh, apache or any real local  arizonan.. say your going to flagstaff for groceries, a big white donut fed cop from that 49th place in higher education  pulls you over.. and asks for your citizenship papers. …say your a dineh, hopi or any indigenous being and speak with an accent.and that big donut fed cop who cant tell the difference between a hopi a mexican or an arab for that matter, takes you in because you look suspicious, talk funny, or cant provide papers for your extended family riding in the back of a pick up truck for groceries . the  state of arizona will  likely have to  re-educate the anglo cops at great expense..if they can be educated at all in race culture and crosscultural identification, and also be enlightened as to what it means to be a racist bigot..due to numerous lawsuits that will surely follow the footsteps of white ignorance and arrogance..not to speak of the cost of mass detentions of innocent people while their existance is being verified.. will the neo-arizonanazis set up concentration camps for non whites..will arizona hire cops with some intelliigence, cultural respect and genuine integrity. what about the white business owners who hire all these right to work state low wage people  they call illegals, but have no problem exploiting them for all they are worth…maybe deport the employers along with the illegals since they are all breaking this law of their land….if you have an illegal mowing your lawn in scottsdale or sedona you should do hard time, or be deported to the state or country of your origin..  if you eat garbage at fast food joints you are likely contributing to  criminal  activity supporting said  illegal criminals livlihoods.. oh you could seal the border no problem, stop the drug flow no problem..right at the border..but then the cops would be out of work..the white business people would have to pay living wages. if they could find inbred white stoop labor to fill their bill….which shouldn’t be too hard in arizona,,just give them some meth and an honorary GED they’ll work all day.. save up some money buy a gun and go to the bar loaded like real white folk do.. john wayne and john birch are dead ,get over it..glenn beck would make a good  enlisted donut eating mormon cop protecting white interests in northern arizona.. did i say that? maybe mccain could be a ride along as jr gestapo boy with beck and the bimbo governor as backup….i suggest anglos all go wash dishes for a month to support their families..or tell your kids to take that job for some real life experience.. maybe take a vacation and live on the rez in san carlos..you’ll apreciate your golf game alot more..what a bunch of pathetic patriots and exploitive hypocrites.. see you at denny’s dipsticks..

First I dont give a dam if Mexico says this will hurt border relations, it should be clear now we dont want relations with Mexico. They are sucking off our tax $’s!

Why does the USA have to be the only country criticized for requiring documentation of  people in there country?
I am so tired of people standing up for the “rights” of illegal aliens. Illegal aliens are not citizens and are not protected by the Constitution. I support Arizona’s new immigration law. the federal government doesnt seem to want to enforce the laws that are already on the books, I am glad that someone is standing up to protect America. My great-grandparents came to the U.S. as immigrants, they spent their time at Ellis Island, they spent the 7 years it took, past all the required tests to gain citizenship, what make the hispanics think they are so special that they shouldnt have to go through the same process? i believe that any person who employs an illegal, houses an illegal or supports an illegal, should be sent to prison. we have laws for a reason, politics to win votes should not interfer with the enforcement of those laws.

If they pass a law that requires the police to stop and search everyone they have “reasonable suspicion” might be carrying racist hate literature and/or illegal firearms, I could get behind that.  Given that it would only be white people that belong to such organizations and carry such items, that wouldn’t be racial profiling, would it?

    Dear kevinp
Have you ever been outside of the US?. If not, then I suggest you make a trip before making any more comments. Every country has illegals, it’s not just Arizona. Every country has issues. Our healthcare system is not perfect, but it’s better than yours. No legal citizen here is denied health care coverage. Dental, physio, drug plans do cost extra—that’s the stuff that is not covered under the Canadian health care system.
How long is your maternity leave with pay in the US? In Canada, it is one year with pay–either topped up most of the year from your employer, or just unemployment insurance, either way, you get a year off with pay. In Germany, for instance, you get paid to be off three years. That’s even better than Canada. What does the average US mother get – five weeks? One is hardly fit to go back to work after five weeks especially if still breast feeding along with the baby getting up two to three times per night for feedings.
Our country is very multicultural, there have been issues with this, but the issues are getting worked out. Kids of all races/religions generally hang together at school. The kids in our city don’t care if someone is Hindu, Muslim, Catholic, Mexican, Polish……they get along. It’s against the law to be racist up here. We have a gun law also. That’s not to say people are murdered with guns in Toronto – they are – usually drug related but innocents do get injured/killed in the cross-fires. Every country has issues. Your country has spent over one trillion dollars in Iraq. Did you get that much in oil back? If another country decides to take on the US, do you honestly think the resources are there for that? Our Canadian soldiers are getting killed in Afghanistan while yours are being killed in Iraq – a total waste of life. Plus all the innocent Iraq people being killed. They want to live in peace also, raise their families, get jobs.
Your state needs to let the Mexican people apply for citizenship. Your state cannot afford to send all these illegals back as the only thing holding your state together is tourism, and a huge chunk of the workers for this tourism are illegals; along with probably agriculture. Except unless your land is irrigated I doubt you can grow any crops – too desert-like.
You have to learn to live together and help each other out. I see that there are groups that do help down there.
Try coming to Canada and you will SEE how different it is up here.

By the way, Canada is going to allow more immigrants to come to Canada as we need more people to support the pension plan for the upcoming retiring people. Some countries are considered to have a declining population, and Canada is one of them. Germany is one of them.

  • Canadian who visits Arizona

    Dear Medfor
I agree that the illegals should apply to be  landed immigrants, but the illegals have been here for years, have homes, children born here etc. etc. Let them apply within the US. They are holding the tourism trade together. If they all leave, the tourists will stop coming. Don’t you get it? You cannot run hotels with red-necks. Tourists do not like red-necks or dealing with them. The illegals are polite, clean and nice and work for low wages. Work in hotels are not high paying, and if you make over a certain amount you don’t qualify for free health care in Arizona…..thus who is going to do all the work…..not the red-necks.
    Wake up!

The migrants usually have taken better care of their teeth, too.

  • BoyBlue

So it’s law in August.  I’d bet my underwater house that it never sees the light of day.  If the 9th Circuit doesn’t quash it on constitutional grounds, then our president, who needs the latino vote in ’12, will get his Justice Department to intervene.  I just hope Arpaio and Thomas get brought up on federal charges in the process.  Those Nazi fascists who’d make the fuhrer proud.

  • Canadian who visits Arizona

    Hey Boy Blue….it’s already happening:
“PHOENIX – A Valley man says he was pulled over Wednesday morning and questioned when he arrived at a weigh station for his commercial vehicle along Val Vista and the 202 freeway.

Abdon, who did not want to use his last name, says he provided several key pieces of information but what he provided apparently was not what was needed.
The agents needed to verify Abdon was in the country legally and it is not uncommon to ask for someone’s birth certificate.  She also said this has nothing to do with the proposed bill or racial profiling.”
I think everyone had better start yelling NOW about the whole thing. It does kind of remind of WWII when the Nazi made the Jews wear the star of David and had to have their papers on them. Is Hitler resurfacing in Arizona?

    • BoyBlue

Hey, Canadian friend, Fuhrer Pearce would be proud.  I used to be a lobbyist up there at the AZ House and Senate.  Pearce assumed, perhaps because I have white skin, that I agreed with him.  I heard him – quite often – say anti-hispanic epithets and many many off-color jokes involving latinos.  Russel Pearce hates hispanics.  He got his middle finger of his right hand shot off by a criminal who just happened to be latino whilst on duty as a brownshirt Maricopa County Sheriff’s Deputy.  To hear him tell the story, you’d think the entire nation of Mexico conspired for him to lose his precious finger.  He’s a racist, bigoted, latin and gay hatin’ puke.

  • Canadian who visits Arizona

Here’s a positive statement: Obama says he has instructed his administration to examine the Arizona bill to see if it violates people’s civil rights.
I cannot fathom anything like this happening in Canada – this new law that some people in your state want to push through.

  • Canadian who visits Arizona

I can understand the Arizona going after the illegal drugs at the border…I can really understand that. I have no problems with that. Drugs are bad news for all involved. I think they need to concentrate fully on that issue and bring more military in for that one. More and more companies are moving to the Mexico……that should give more jobs for the Mexicans who live there. I still think the government should hear out the illegals out and let the illegals apply for work visas, apply for landed status.

  • JCB

So right or wrong if it brings money into the state it should be allowed?  I wouldn’t need to see your pic to recognize the ramblings of a child.

  • Canadian who visits Arizona

Dear JCB……pray tell…..what are your suggestions? I hope you realize that lots of illegals have children born in the US making them US citizens…so if you deport their parents home are you willing to support the kids left behind? The parents don’t have to take them with them you know. Why would they, when their kids later on could apply to sponsor them to come back.
Your state is 49th in education and does not have much going for it except for tourism, e.g. Grand Canyon, resorts and golf courses……guess where Bill Gates gets a lot of recruits from……not Arizona….try Waterloo, Ontario Canada ……….so perhaps you should find advice from someone other than from Arizona…..eh?
