A superhero gets a new suit and a local hero files a suit

by on Apr. 30, 2010, under Arts

After a week of hearing, seeing and talking about how my state of birth has become an embarrassment to the nation and most of humanity I was looking forward to some good news. Fortunately, that came in the red and yellow pages of Invincible Ironman #25. Ironman has always been a pleasure to read and I was hooked ever since the Extremis story line, which not only debuted Adi Granov’s amazing art, but revamped the character in a significant way. Moreover, the armor from Extremis was used as the basis for the costume design in the Robert Downey Jr. movie. So when it was announced that in issue #25 that Tony Stark was getting another upgrade I was stoked and I had to check it out. Aside form all the new twists in the story and the sick new way his armor comes on, the suit just looks awesome!!!  It took some time to get used to the look due to the fact that I was a big fan of the more mechanical look of Adi Granov’s design. This went away real quick after reading issue 25. So for the uninitiated here is what that looks like:

New Iron Man Suit - April 2010

In other news:

Not only did SB1070 tic  lots of people off, it has also prompted one local cop to file a lawsuit against the state on the basis that this law can not be enforced with police neutrality.  The police officer involved is one Martin H. Escobar, who aside from being one bad mutha on the streets of Tucson is also one bad mutha on the mat or ring or whatever place jiu-jitsu guys fight.

Officer Martin H. Escobar, who filed suit against SB 1070, is also a jui-jitsu champion.

Now its obvious he’s Hispanic, but before any Minutemen or Jon Justice fans start accusing him of protecting illegals lets consider the fact that not only can this guy beat you senseless, but in every picture he’s in there’s an American flag behind him, I can’t think of anyone more patriotic than him. Well, except for maybe this guy:

All I can say is read the bill for yourself. It never brings up race at any point. I wont try to confuse you with the facts though as your mind is already clearly made up.

born in AZ part white/native american/mexican.

too bad you embarrassed by the rantings and misinformation about the new AZ immigration law.

“Now its obvious he’s Hispanic”  ???? racial profiling on your part isn’t it?

“Not only did SB1070 tic  lots of people off, it has also prompted one local cop to file a lawsuit against the state on the basis that this law can not be enforced with police neutrality.” the vast majority of the ones that are ticked off are people with something to hide or are covering for people with something to hide. say, being here illegally.

DesertWD, its not, actually. Racial profiling is only when you suspect someone of committing a certain type of crime based on their race. I did not suspect Officer Escobar of any crimes, let alone crimes based on his race. That’s the problem with this law is that the majority of  people that will be suspected will be Hispanics.
Matt I have read the law, of course it does not mention race because then it would be outright racist and would never even get to the bill stage let alone the law stage. So in order to get this to go through it has to be veiled in wording that is vague enough to be legit. For example, “reasonable suspicion,” that could be anything so long as the police officer can write a good report.

It’s a great world the internet has wrought, when you can read Desmond Tutu’s response to Arizona’s laws :)

First, I’ll admit that I barely know anything about this subject. All i see are post after post about the topic. From what I’ve gathered everyone is afraid of profiling and hispanics being unjustly prosecuted, etc etc etc. Doesn’t that happen now? Before the law, didn’t cops profile and find dumb excuses to pool minorities over? I’m really not seeing the difference here.

More garbage from the American haters, SB1070 is not racist and it is not racist for a country or state to want to stop 20 million criminals and send them home to their countries of origin. As for as the poor me’s ,the illegals that is, whining about breaking up their families, maybe they should have thought of that before they came to the USA and broke our laws.God Bless you Governor Brewer, keep up the good work and lets send the illegals all home or to California,I here Arnie wants them,We do not,GO HOME
