Week 10 HS football rankings

There may be no UA football this week, but those who care at all about the high school game have absolutely nothing to complain about as Friday night presents two games which have all the makings of what could end up being two of the top five games of the year. More »

Week 9 HS football rankings

Very little movement in this week's rankings, and I don't expect much for next week's either as I think just one team in the top 10 will lose, and that comes in the Sabino/Cienega game. More »

Week 8 HS football rankings

The home stretch is officially upon us. Here's where I think the best of southern Arizona rank after seven weeks of high school football this season based on a combination of how they've played and how good I think they can be at their best. More »

Week 7 HS football rankings

Showdowns this week between Salpointe/Ironwood Ridge and Palo Verde/Sahuarita are sure to force some changes in next week's poll. And while I wouldn't say the outcomes of the Amphi at Santa Rita or Canyon del Oro at Catalina Foothills game are in question, I anticipate performances in those games will have a lot to say with next week's poll, even for the teams that lose. I know I'll hear it from the Sabino fans this week. Despite a 4-0 record, I moved a 3-1 Ironwood Ridge team ahead of the Sabercats this week. More »

Week 5 football rankings (Kiss of death edition)

So I have a new No. 10 team in this week's southern Arizona high school football rankings, but I'm realizing there is a pattern with that spot for the past three weeks in my rankings. The No. 10 spot is a kiss of death. More »

Week 4 - HS football rankings

Two teams have earned their way into the top 10 after shutting me up the past few weeks, but the top two thirds of my southern Arizona Top 10 football standings won't change this week. A pair of teams – Salpointe and Canyon del Oro – face big tests this week so we'll see how their performances affect their standings in week 5. More »
