Tuesday wasn't exactly a run-of-the-mill sports day for southern Arizona high school sports.
Maybe none of these are story of the year material, but for all of these to have happened in one night, I thought it was noteworthy.
Here are some highlights from Tuesday night's high school sports action around Tucson:
> Rincon/University boys soccer coach Roxanne Taylor won career game No. 300 with a 1-0 win over visiting Nogales (story)
> St. Gregory's boys basketball team, the defending Class 1A state champs, beat Tanque Verde to improve to 16-0 on the season and extend its win streak to 31 straight. (story)
> Palo Verde senior Adam Hall was named a MaxPreps second team Football All-American. (story)
> Amphi's boys basketball team beat Tucson-power Santa Rita behind guard Chris Johnson's two free throws in overtime for a 58-57 win, the first time in years Amphi has topped Santa Rita on the court. (story)
> Rincon's boys basketball team, which started the season 13-2 and was starting to earn some attention around the state, was beaten soundly by visiting Sierra Vista Buena 67-33. (story)
> The Catalina Foothills girls soccer team beat Sierra Vista Buena 9-0 behind a hat trick from Savanna Schmidt, who also assisted on a fourth goal. (Tuesday stats)
> Brandon Duliakas scored 25 as the Ironwood Ridge boys basketball team beat up on Salpointe 71-53. (Tuesday stats)
