Highway collision: Thomas D. Whitehead, 25, and William R. Bagwell, 29

Thomas D. Whitehead, 25, and William R. Bagwell, 29, were killed when their vehicles collided on Interstate 10 near Casa Grande on Feb. 6, according to a news release from the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Whitehead, an Arizona Army National Guardsman, had one passenger in his 1997 Chevrolet pickup during the crash. The passenger, also a national guardsman, survived but was hospitalized.

Whitehead, of Shonto, Ariz., had been westbound on I-10 near milepost 194 when he drove through the center median and into the eastbound lanes. His pickup collided head-on with and eastbound 1998 Ford sports utility vehicle driven by Bagwell, of Surprise.

All three men had been wearing seat belts. The investigation continues.
