Galareka Harrison, who is accused of killing her University of Arizona roommate, Mia Henderson, won’t testify in her own defense.
Assistant Public Defender John O’Brien told Pima County Superior Court Judge Nanette Warner Thursday morning that he won’t be calling any witnesses.
Warner then turned to Harrison, 19, and asked if she had discussed testifying with her attorneys.
“Yes,” she said.
Warner asked if Harrison wanted to testify or not.
“Not,” she replied, shaking her head.
When jurors return to court Thursday afternoon, prosecutors will rest their case.
Warner will tell jurors the burden of proof is on the state and defendants don’t have to testify.
O’Brien then will rest the defense.
Warner will give jurors instructions to deliberate and then closing arguments will be presented.
