UNLV's Kruger not interested in UA hoops job

ABOUT THIS BLOGGER

Hello everyone. Obviously, this is me and I enjoy what I do. I've been writing for the Tucson Citizen for more than 21 years (it doesn't feel that long). I'll start my 18th season of Arizona basketball this year (2008-09). Before that, I covered Arizona f

I’ve said this once or twice – likely more a few – in the last week or since Lute Olson retired: it’s way too early to start saying who will be the next men’s basketball coach.
In time when the dust settles and the season progresses that will happen.
On Friday, UNLV coach Lon Kruger told the Las Vegas Sun was asked about Arizona’s situation. He said his thoughts are on coaching only one team and that’s the Rebels. It’s his fifth season there.
“I don’t have any idea what they’re looking for,” Kruger said told Rob Miech of the Sun. “ … but we’re not interested in that.
“We can’t do anything about people talking about it, if they do, or what appears on the Internet or wherever else it appears. All we can do is line up and have a great time coaching this group, which we will.”
I’ve long thought Kruger would have been a perfect fit in that he’s still young at 56 and one of the better rebuilders of college programs. He’s solid, straightforward and good with the media.
Over the summer, Kruger, after guiding the Rebels to the Sweet 16 last year, signed a new contract over the summer worth $5.4 plus hefty ticket sales incentives and other bonuses.
When asked if he’d happy if UNLV ends up being his last coaching job, Kruger said, “Absolutely. I’d be thrilled. We love living here and the fans are great. We just have to keep growing it.”
UA faces UNLV in Las Vegas on Dec. 20.

With all that I am reading...I choose to stand back and re-appraise the situation with Russ Pennell. This man has a tremendous amount to offer the UoA Basketball team! Why don't we just let him run the team for 10 weeks without any critical lamenting! We might be very surprised that Russ might be the man we are all looking for! He has the respect of some very knowledgable people and his team! I'm for giving him a chance and letting all the prima donna's basketball coaches have a "time out!"

...to hell with Kruger, i wouldn't want a MWC coach at all anyway - and besides, who even mentioned anything about UA's interest in him? From what it sounds like, no one offered anything (Just most like the reporter to this story with ASu ties), it was just a question posed by someone outside the program. Of course he would say no, but nobody linked to the UA even proposed the idea...had he said yes, how do you think the LV fans would've reacted to it? F the MWC and Kruger...

Thank GOD ,you will not be apart of anything dealing with the next hire for HC at Arizona.

Who gives a Fu** about if the coach likes talking to the Media.
It is about winning the NC!
