ALL IN THE FAMILY AT CHEF ALISAH'S
It would be quite enough if
Ahmet Alisah's new restaurant was the only purveyor of Bosnian fare in town, or the whole state for that matter, but Alisah doesn't stop there. It's the only true Bosnian restaurant in the U.S., he says.
I'm going to check it out today (
5931 N. Oracle Road) as if I would have the slightest clue of how truly Bosnian a restaurant's Bosnian fare could be.
PILETINA U SOSU UD GLJIVA SARMA
(Chicken with mushroom sauce) (Stuffed cabbage leaves)
"You can eat Mexican burritos and Italian pizza at 500 other places here, but nobody can prep and cook what I make," Alisah told me.
He's sure I'm going to love his "terrific, healthy and slow-cooked European and Bosnian cuisine," and is just as sure that he makes the best
Cevapi to be had, anywhere.
BUREK CEVAPI
(Beef-stuffed pastry) (Bosnian sausage)
I'm game, and he can also count me in on the
Bosanska Kafa (Bosnian coffee that's very similar to Turkish coffee). Here's a link to PDFs of the
menus.
Chef Alisah's Restaurant is open seven days a week from 10:30 a.m to 1:30 p.m for lunch and from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. for dinner. No phone as of yet.
TUFAHIJA VOCNE KUGLICE
(Apple cake) (Fruit balls)
