I love seeing movies on the big screen.
And I enjoy the independent films being shown at
the non-profit Loft Cinema, 3233 E. Speedway, east of Country Club.
Their films are definitely diverse and definitely affordable. And this
is the Tucson theater that has been showing the "Rocky Horror Picture
Show" (at midnight) for 30 years.
Cult classics are shown for
only $5 on Fridays and Saturdays at 10 p.m., and the even cheaper $2
Mondo Mondays at 8 p.m. features odd-ball flicks for the more
adventuresome movie goers.
If you crave "the most important,
influential and entertaining art films in history", then there's
Essential Cinema on Sundays/Mondays once a month for FREE. Coming up
on November 16 and 17 is Roman Polanski's "Knife in the Water."
Starting in 2009, this film series will be held on Sundays and Tuesdays.
Check
out their new films and these classics at www.loftcinema.com, or pick
up their artsy monthly film & event calendar, free at many
distribution racks all over Tucson.
Consider joining the Loft as
well, to get one free new film screening a month, 2 free passes,
discount tickets, the monthly calendar, and always free popcorn! What
a deal.
See you at the movies.
