Don’t even start the college basketball season, and start the NCAA tournament right now!
Why not? Why deal with the likely pressure of even wondering if you’ll get in for the 25th consecutive time? That’s the case with Arizona as it begins the regular season next week. But just this week, ESPN.com’s Joe Lunardi (the Bracketology guy) predicts UA will get in the tournament and be a 10th seed. He has the Wildcats playing UNLV in the first round. The two teams play one another Dec. 20 in Las Vegas in a regular season game.
After viewing his 65-team tournament projections, one on-line chat person said Lunardi was “crazy’’ if he thought UA and Washington State would get bids over Washington.
Said Lunardi: “Every year I keep hearing about how great Washington is and the last two they can't get above .500 in their own league. So call me skeptical.’’
Another chat guy said many hoop fans think UA is a “dead basketball program.’’ But does he think UA will make another tournament.
“Just hold on,’’ Lunardi said.
