Dan L. Unger, 52, died at the scene of a Southeast Side traffic crash Nov. 22 after he was hit from behind, a Tucson police spokesman said.
Unger was driving his brown 2003 Honda Element and had just made a left turn out of a private driveway onto northbound Houghton Road when he was slammed from behind by a 2004 Pontiac Montana, police said.
The driver of the Montana, a 36-year-old man whom police did not name, was taken to the hospital with internal injuries that were critical but not life threatening, Office Chuck Rydzak said.
Police traffic detectives are believe speed was a factor in the crash and are awaiting toxicology results to see if drugs or alcohol was involved, Rydzak said. No citations have been issued but that could change if the toxicology reports come back positive.
