Some Things Should Be Done In Private
Let’s talk about texting etiquette — there is none.
People are texting in their cars, during meetings, during class, in restaurants, in church and in movie theaters. Albeit, texting is not as annoying as the one-sided cell phone call where people appear to be talking to themselves, but it is becoming a public nuisance.
Texting is a singular self-indulgent preoccupation, and when you think about it, you might as well be masturbating in public — sitting there fiddling with your fingers and thumbs entertaining yourself.
Don’t get me wrong, technology is great and under the right circumstances it can be revolutionary, such as in the aftermath of the recent Iranian elections. However, sitting in a dark theater with a brightly lit screen texting your friends about what Harry Potter is doing in the latest installment of the films based on the J.K. Rowling books is not the right place. Not now. Not ever.
