The Gatekeepers of Ironwood Hills Church in Tucson, Arizona

The Gatekeepers from the Ironwood Hills Church is a musical group of musicians and singers. The chorale consisted of fifteen members, five men and ten women. One of the young ladies, the harpist, is still a student at the churches’ school.

The musicians included bass and lead guitar, drummer, piano, keyboard and harp. Each played by very talented women. The bass player and piano player were a mother and daughter duo. The horn section consisted of two equally talented men on trumpet and saxes.

The Gatekeepers rendered a number of Christian songs in traditional, contemporary and southern Gospel styles to the packed sanctuary.

The performances varied in renditions and styles covering a-cappella, country and western, the 50s and Gospel.

The harmonies were very tight and at times reminded you of the precision of barber shop quartets of old.

The pastor of First Baptist Church of Catalina, Dr. Jim Dixon, remarked that as he reflects back over the years of his church upbringing, how much things have changed in music and how much he likes it.

During the concert, the bass player, Sister Amy shared her testimony about how she became a Christian and the impact it had on her relationships.

The group sang a powerful arrangement of the spiritual classic “Working on a Building.” The audience showed its appreciations with a standing ovation.

The song “That’s All” was up-tempo and featured solos by most of the musicians. Each showed their mastery of their respective instruments.

The a-cappella version of the old classic “Holy, Holy, Holy” also showcased the strong voices and harmonies of the well rehearsed group.

The Gatekeepers final song was so uplifting and energetic, that the audience again gave them a standing ovation and demanded an encore.

The group will on program at their home church, Ironwood Hills Church, for the Thanksgivings’ and Christmas Day services.

LaShandria and Covito Redman

The grand opening celebration event and ribbon cutting for Divine Appointment Christian Dance LLC was held in their new studio. The event included food, fellowship, ministry, class registration, and fun.

The school is the brainchild of husband and wife team, LaShandria and Covito Redman. “I just finished my degree in dance at Pima Community College. My passion is first God, and then dance. I love to dance and I love to dance for God” says LaShandria Redman.

Divine Appointment Christian Dance LLC is a Christian based dance school. DACD teaches the importance of dance and how to use dance in worship and to glorify God.

This unique perspective makes it the only local dance school with an emphasis on both the technical aspects of dance and the understanding of spiritual applications.

The dance classes available include flags, hip hop praise, mime, prophetic dance, roots of Christian dance, fitness, technique and ballet.

The open house started with a prophetic dance by Redmans followed by an inspirational reading by Covito Redman. The history and vision was also shared.

Jennifer Paul, the ballet instructor was introduced and gave a brief description about her background and expressed her pleasure in joining the new business venture and ministry.

The Redman’s pastor, Apostle Arthur W, Tigney, Jr. gave a few words about his relationship with the Redman family and how pleased he is to see the dream and vision of the Redmans come to fruition. “This is only the beginning,” Tigney said.

Tigney and his wife Glenda then prayed and anointed the Redmans followed by the same for ballet instructor, Paul.

The evening concluded with the traditional ribbon cutting, class registration signups and cake.
