Attend this Feb. 21st forum to meet and greet these candidates for the State House and Senate of Arizona, to be decided in the August 24 primary.

Ken Smalley, who ran for Pima County Treasurer in 1992 and for Tucson City Council against Molly McKasson in 1993 as a Libertarian, has filed to run as a Republican for an LD 28 House seat. (Thanks to AZBlueMeanie–whoever he is–at Blog for Arizona for this info as I’m not currently up to date on the Republican Party candidates).

It was refreshing watching Sen. Aboud take on christian wingnut Russell Pearce and his plan to erect another 10 Commandments monument.
    We need more like her.
Pretty typical that there’s no mention of this disgrace from the bloggers of TC – but rather than simply rant let me recommend that everyone offended by the Republican Taliban make a small contribution to the American Civil Liberties Union.
    I just did.

Thanks tiponeill for your comments and links.  Without a balanced state budget since July 1, 2009 seems to me that the State Senate has better things to do than erect religious monuments at the State Capitol.

About 80 people attended today’s forum to hear the 2 State Senate hopefuls speak, as well as the 5 candidates seeking the 2 House seats in LD 28.  Also in the audience: AG candidate Vince Rabago, State Senator Jorge Garcia, TUSD board member Mark Stegeman, former House Rep.Tom Prezelski, and outgoing LD 28 House Rep. David Bradley.  Each of the candidates spoke for 10 minutes, but many in the audience said they would have liked some Q and A time afterwards.  Maybe at the next forum.
