I had the opportunity yesterday morning to attend the “Independent Rights Party” breakfast with Mr. Home, his lovely wife Mary, and a handful of other individuals. First, a few observations from the meeting:The crowd was friendly, welcoming and certainly very sincere in their beliefs. They are, unquestionably, very good people with a passion for individual liberties and personal self-reliance. Mr. Home himself seems a very likeable, amiable person who would make a strong and fast friend.Some of the presentations and discussions from others given the opportunity to speak at the meeting were, frankly, a little off-the-wall. One gentleman contended, based on an online article, that the earthquake in Japan was an “induced” event caused by UHF waves, possibly deliberately. Another woman talked about how the world truly has an unlimited supply of fossil fuels, since oil pulled from the earth is organically replaced from eternally created stores in the earth’s core.Mr. Home’s presentation was more, well, down-to-earth. However, while in some respects attractive and certainly idealistic, it raised far more questions than it answered. From what I was able to tell, Mr. Home is most certainly not a billionaire by any common definition. It is highly unlikely, for instance, that he would be able to self-finance a major campaign.His claim to wealth stems from a lawsuit against any bank or lending institution that has foreclosed on a home in the State of Arizona. According to Mr. Home, he and his wife have trademarked the names “FANNIE MAE” and “FREDDIE MAC” in Arizona under the Uniform Commercial Code which, according to them, declaims that individuals cannot be debtors, and have a right to claim themselves “Exempt” from bank collection activities. In full admission, I’m not sure I understood exactly what Mr. & Mrs Home were referring to here, and I cannot pretend that this is a fully accurate explanation of Mr. Home’s position. If you want more information, you may want to stop in next Saturday and ask Mr. Home for yourself.As for his political platform, Mr. Home said that there should be no charge for water service in Tucson, and that no great society had ever charged for water or air. Perhaps this is a good sentiment, but one that creates a myriad of practical problems and questions. He also wants to stop all foreclosures in Tucson, although I’m not sure how the Mayor of Tucson, with the limited authority that position entails, would go about doing that.Frankly, while unchecked idealism is one of the most valuable traits of a free society, Tucson has very serious problems that need to be addressed quickly and efficiently. The next few years will, in many respects, determine the course of our city long into the future. It’s imperative that the debates and dialogue in this year’s Mayoral race take that practical urgency into account.

I applaud Marshal for running for Mayor. However, without we The People Uniting both PUBLICLY & Privately nothing will change the futre for what our Founding Fathers sought out to achieve for genrations to come.

You go dude!!!  FINALLY someone to stand up for the real people with real rights and real needs that the banks just do not care about at all.  They take all they can w/o any thought of the real people out there they are just crushing—they have no souls!!!  Marshall and Mary you both are a blessing and GOD has a “special” place for people who care about people!  God Bless America—wow welcome back to basics where people really matter most.

He may be soft spoken and friendly but when I heard him speak he came across as condescending and arrogant, in responding to some questions with comments such as “…if I explained it, you wouldn’t understand it anyway” and “I already told you.” During his talk he made numerous contradictions, generalizations and offered nothing specific pertaining to running the city. He said both Democrats and Republicans in office are prostitutes. Yet he had previously mentioned that he registered as a Democrat because there were more Democrats in the city and had a better chance that way.
I was not impressed in the least.
