Mayoral candidate billionaire Marshall Home changes party affiliation to Democrat

by on Mar. 25, 2011, under Life, Politics

On March 21, 2011 Independent Mayoral candidate Marshall Home filed a change of party affiliation with Pima County Recorder’s Office to Democrat, to challenge attorney Jonathan Rothschild in the August 30 primary. I just confirmed this information with Chris Roads, Pima County Deputy Recorder & Registrar of Voters.

See my previous blog about “multi-billionaire” and political newcomer Home, who has mostly been registered as a Republican since 1994 in Pima County, but changed to Independent last October, 2010. (click here). He did tell me on the phone that he intended to challenge Rothschild in the Democratic primary.

Please note that there may to be a problem with Marshall Home’s residency in the City of Tucson, since when he filed his registration to change his party affiliation to “Independent” last October, his residence address (3051 W. Mexico St. 85746) was not in the City of Tucson. He changed his address back to 2772 W. St. Tropaz, 85713 in Ward 1 on March 18, 2011.

Who else is running for Mayor now that Republican Mayor Bob Walkup has decided not to seek a 4th term? One Democrat: Jonathan Rothschild. Two Republicans: Shaun McClusky and Ron Asta have filed, and Independent (former Democrat) Pat Darcy is considering a run. Both Asta and Darcy have run for Mayor before (and lost), but not so for all the others.

Also, Green Party candidate Jon McLane just filed this week. Click here.

This is assuming that all these candidates can get enough valid petition signatures by June 1st. Stay tuned.

Is this the best that Tucson has to offer? This guy, a former Democrat shoplifter, another liberal Democrat lawyer. I just cant wait.

When the current Mayor declined to run for re-election, I knew it would be a crowded race of “men who would be Mayor”.   Did you read my earlier blog today that there is also a Green Party candidate now too (and it’s not Dave Croteau):

I went to high school with Dave Croteau!

We deserve better people to vote for.

I get that you need to point out the address change, and that it is public record, but who does it serve to publish the exact addresses on this site?

Tucson City Clerk’s website has the 2011 candidate listings:
    http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/sites/default/files/clerks/Candidate%20Listing%20as%20of%203-25-11.pdf
Also from the Clerk’s website, “A candidate for Mayor or Council Member must have been a qualified elector (registered voter) and resident of the City of Tucson for not less than (3) years immediately prior to becoming a candidate.”

Since the majority of the people who will vote in the election will only vote for a “D” then becoming a D, it is politically expedient. However in this case the cost to buy him is higher than the normal wine, women and money — must be the illusion of power and self gratification.

I believe the Democratic primary on August 30 is “closed”, only registered Democrats and Independents can vote in that election. The Republicans will have their own primary since there are 2 candidates running.

Well, he maybe a jerk, but he is gaining the admiration of people across the country for his willingness to use his wealth  and position to help those in foreclosure  fight the bankers.  How many of you guys criticizing him can say the same thing????

Hero’s come in many different sizes and forms…. what has happened to us, is they are now being defined by those that control our press and we forgot that most great men were oddball in many ways, which is why they were great….. THEY IGNORED POLITICALLY CORRECT, CATTLE HERD MENTALITY THAT THE REST OF US FOLLOW.  Good for him.   Instead you keep putting in people like  McCain who is a joke to the rest of the nation and then you allow the feds to tell you as citizens that you can’t enter into your own land in your own state.   Yup, I will take a nutcase like him anytime over the whimpy sheep that brought us to this condition in our nation.
Sheep don’t even have the courage to be who they are instead of who they are told they can be.  Nice.
