“Fantasy Factory” queer erotic art at Fluxx Galleryby Carolyn Classen on Oct. 01, 2011, under Arts, Life
Local Tucson photographer Sara Way (aka “Sway”) has a one-woman queer erotic art show at Fluxx Studio & Gallery, 414 E. 9th St. (just east of 4th Avenue, across from The Shanty).
The show of about 35 photographs runs through October 9th, with viewing hours of noon to 7 p.m. Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Other times call Fluxx at 520-882-0424 for an appointment for this show which “delves into the hidden lives of females and queers, an imaginative collection of sexy gender benders and queerotic fairy tales”.
Sara has been shooting photos for about 10 years, has attended Pima Community College and formerly worked for Photographic Works. The photos in her show boldly address “gender identity” and “empowering women’s sexuality.” Her website is Sway Lingerie, www.swaylingerie.com
About Fluxx Studio & Gallery, www.fluxxstudioandgallery.com:
Fluxx Studio & Gallery is a non-profit community art space working to provide thoughtful, engaging and socially uplifting events. Fluxx is a multi-function space designed to host exhibitions, performance art, movie screenings, workshops and special events.
It is important to encourage open dialogue and communication about queer culture in order to bridge gaps of understanding, acceptance and change.
Over the years we have built relationships with Tucson artists, businesses and groups inside and out of the LGBTQ community.
Our goal is to increase the visibility and promote the creation of queer arts and culture in Tucson by providing a platform for expression and exchange.
My husband and I, and our friend Victor (a performing artist) attended the artist’s reception last night. We found her photographic art provocative and innovative.
