Little Joe y La Familia to perform at Fiesta Grande 2012

This fiesta on Grande Avenue (between Speedway and St. Mary’s Road) in Barrio Hollywood is in its 10th year — but this year, Little Joe y La Familia, 5-time Grammy award winner will be performing. Wow, now that’s something to celebrate.

Games & activities for the kids
Arts & Crafts
Food & Beer for purchase
Classic Car Show
Carnival
…and information booths. Admission is free.

I’ve been to this fun two-day event over the last 10 years, and once even walked in their morning parade for the Kino Heritage Society, with Justice of the Peace Carmen Dolny (District 4) and attorney Mark O’Hare.

    As far as I know, Little Joe is performing on Sunday, 2 to 4 p.m.

    Standing room only on Grande Ave. to hear Little Joe perform just now. He introduced Fiesta Grande organizer Margaret McKenna and CD 7 Congressman Raul Grijalva, who spoke of Little Joe’s initiative against diabetes and obesity.  Then I ran into Margaret’s nephew, Patricio McKenna (former aide to Supervisor Ray Carroll) and Cam Juarez, candidate for TUSD School Board.  Amazed that I met anyone in that crowd, probably the largest in the 10 years of this fiesta.  Great music.
