Tucson Medical Center physician Dr. Heinz is a member of the Arizona state house, having served 2 terms representing LD 29. He is facing a Democratic challenge in the August 28 primary from newly elected Congressman Ron Barber, of CD 8. Then the winner will be running against the Republican winner of their primary, either Martha McSally (who ran in the 4-way CD 8 special primary and lost to Jesse Kelly) or Mark Koskiniemi, a political newcomer.

So if you’re undecided as to whom to vote for in the Democratic CD 2 primary, turn out at these town halls & listen to what Matt has to say about the issues affecting Southern Arizona.

About 40 people turned out to listen to Matt talk about his work over the past 2 years in the Az House, then address questions about health care, renewable energy, women’s health, climate change, marriage equality, illegal immigration, solar energy, Citizens United.  He also was asked about what differentiated him from his opponent, and Matt said he would not have voted like Barber did in his first 2 votes on border security and AG Eric Holder.  Stay tuned for upcoming debates, one on August 11 hosted by Saguaro Eastside Dems and Tanque Verde Dems.

Thanks for the short cut to my primary vote.  Hearing Heinz’s positions on Barber’s first two votes says it all.

      • Carolyn_Classen

There were several Democrats in the room who said they were unhappy with Barber’s first votes and would consider supporting Matt.

Both of those townhalls are a little too far away from me, but I was I was surprised last evening when I got a phone call around 6.30 inviting me to participate in “Tele-Town Hall with Matt Heinz”. There was an introduction by Matt, and then instructions to press “0″ to be placed in the queue to ask a question. There was also a live webcast that you could access from his website http://www.heinzforcongress.com. I stayed on the line for almost an hour, and Matt responded to around 20 questions from telephone & telecast participants. Matt articulated his positions very well. Very cool use of technology, and the Tele-Town Hall was very interesting.

BTW, the AZ Dem party has my unlisted number, so they must have provided it to Matt’s campaign. No problem, the AZ Dems have never abused this, this was maybe the 4th call I’ve received from/through them in the past couple of years.

David, I wondered if you were in the audience at the  TJCC event, and glad you were able to participate in the Tele-Town Hall.  We didn’t get that phone call but did get one the day before the Tucson Town Hall inviting us to that.  Stay tuned for the debates.
