DESIGN CHARRETTE FOR PUBLIC INPUT ON MODERN STREETCAR FOCUS AREA BEGINS MONDAY January 14

The City of Tucson Planning and Development Services Department (PDSD) will be conducting a design charrette for individuals and groups with an interest in the quarter mile focus area of the Tucson Modern Streetcar line (Sun Link). Interested neighbors, business owners, developers and all interested parties are encouraged to attend. The public process will begin with an opening reception on Monday, January 14, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.

A design charrette is a collaborative and open planning process conducted over multiple days. A multidisciplinary team, consisting of stakeholders, community, support staff and consultants, will collaborate as part of this effort.

The Tucson Modern Streetcar Design Charrette will offer a variety of opportunities for public input including:

• Initial Visioning public meeting

• Strategy Meetings for identified areas within the Quarter Mile Focus Area of the Sun Link line

• One-on-one meetings for individuals or groups that prefer privacy

• A Public Open House

• A Final Presentation

How about we direct the funds from this ridiculous waste of money and fix some of these third world country streets.

Thats why the City Motto should be Circling the Drain…or Vof Southern Arizona.
I say that if this toy train project doesnt work we throw out EVERY elected official who voted for it and fire every City official who thought it was a good idea. Does the Old Pueblo Trolley old guys have something on the City to have made them do this, pictures maybe? Why were they even listened to in the first. Buy them some model trains and tell them to go away.
Why would I get on a trolley from the U of A Hospital to go to downtown. I hope that a lot of drunk U of A students ride the trolley. They can pay for it.
Maybe we can melt down the two bronze statues of two nude figures that are years overdue and make a plaque on the bridge to tell the next generation just how stupid we were.

About 100 people there tonight to participate in the “visioning process” of the land use/economic development along this route. People spoke of preserving the historic buildings & neighborhoods, compatibility of walking, biking usage, getting the UA students to ride it to go downtown, Sun Link connectivity (in the future) towards the North & East. Mayor Rothschild welcomed the audience, Steve K also present. By the way charrette is a French word that means cart, as in the 19th century in Paris, proctors collected final drawings of students in the charrettes.
