This sounds exciting and intriguing. A weekend day — Saturday September 28 (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) at the Joel D. Valdez Main Library, touted as DIY – Do It Yourself, a time to “learn bike repair, couponing, origami, and everything in between”. This is obviously a family friendly event for all ages.
“Learn, Create, Connect at DIY Day”.
More info: 520-791-4010, www.library.pima.gov.
For full schedule of that day’s do it yourself events (click here), which includes diverse activities such as learning to use a fire extinguisher, how to tie dye, make cheese (yum) or Japanese temari balls (not edible). Download the full schedule to plan your day, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Well, in the past I have learned to repair a bike, I know about how to clip & use discount coupons, I grew up doing origami (Japanese paper folding), but what else is in between remains a mystery. Join the activities & instructors at the Main Library on 9/28/13, to learn & create more. There’s even a workshop on hypnosis.
Also at Joel D. Valdez Library earlier on the same day, 7 to 10 .m. is another project called “Dig in! Library Plaza Planter Project” to help create a community garden in the Jacome Plaza (outside the library), and planters at DIY Day.
The Pima County Main library is at 101 N. Stone Ave., between Alameda and Pennington downtown.
