9TH ANNUAL FIESTA GRANDE STREET FAIR, May 7 & 8, 2011
Celebrating the Westside Culture!

Press release:

Tucson, AZ. — The celebration of Tucson’s West Side culture and
history of Barrio Hollywood will take place in this ninth annual Fiesta
Grande Street Fair on Saturday, May 7th and Sunday May 8th Saturday from
9:30 to dusk and Sunday from Noon to dusk. This city-wide event is
‘Free to the public’ and will take place on Grande Avenue (four
blocks west of I-10) between Speedway Blvd. and St. Mary’s Road.

Five minutes northwest of Tucson’s Historic Downtown, Grande Avenue
crosses through Barrio Hollywood–one of Tucson’s oldest neighborhoods,
(“Where Everyone’s a Star”). The multi-block festival features a
kick-off parade with floats, color guard, an exhibit of historical
murals, carnival rides and games. There are two days of live music,
ensemble groups, a car show, arts and crafts, lots of delicious food and
beer. There will be activities featuring jumping castles, rock climbing
and lots of games for young and old alike!

Featured are many restaurants showcasing regional Mexican cuisine,
including the widely popular Pat’s Chili Dog. The main stage has a
line-up of live music with groups such as: Mariachis, Los Gallegos,
Borboletta, a Santana Tribute, Grupo F.E.A.R, Hollywood Knights and many
more!

We no longer receive help from the city of Tucson, so we want to thank
all the organizations that are helping and supporting these efforts.
Funds raised will be used to support scholarships, equipment and
activities of the Barrio Hollywood Neighborhood Association; these lend
support to the local schools and support for community programs at El
Rio Neighborhood Center, local churches, and assistance for the elderly.

We welcome you and cordially invite you to the Fiesta Grande Street
Fair and experience this great community event—it’s free!
