Open House for Girls – Team El Grupo accepting new female riders!

Location: El Grupo clubhouse, 439 N. 6th Ave (SW corner 6th Ave & 6th St)

On Tuesday, November 27th El Grupo will hold an Open House specifically for girls aged 12-18 to come learn more about what El Grupo does and what it takes to be part of the team. Current and past female riders and coaches will be available to answer questions, tell stories, and inspire other girls to consider joining the team. New rider orientation for girls only (this time!) will begin in early December, following the Open House. Come learn about how to gain confidence, skills, friends, and fitness!

Team El Grupo is comprised of male and female youth aged 12-18 from diverse backgrounds, representing over 10 different middle and high schools in the Tucson/Pima County region. The Team rides road and mountain bikes competitively, as well as encourages bike touring, cyclo-cross and daily commuting. All team members engage in bicycle education, outreach and advocacy through the Youth Empowering Youth program. Team El Grupo has been providing opportunities of cycling to local teens that would not otherwise have them for over 7 years.

El Grupo’s mission is to empower youth through bicycles. Through its Team El Grupo and Youth Empowering Youth programs, El Grupo is getting youth on bikes, and they in turn are teaching, inspiring, and empowering other youth to ride, enjoy and love bikes. El Grupo reaches over 600 youth annually who are under served or simply uninspired and gives them something positive to be excited about, as well as confidence in themselves. El Grupo is fostering the next generation of active, health-conscious, and community-minded cycling enthusiasts and leaders in Tucson.
