Dress as a Garden Gnome to beat Guinness World Record at Gnome Fest 2013

More than 478 people need to show up for the 2nd Annual Tucson Gnome Fest to break the Guinness World Record. The current record holders:

“The largest gathering of people dressed as garden gnomes is 478 and was achieved by BBC Hereford & Worcester (UK) at the Foyer of Malvern Theatres in Worcester, UK, on 18 November 2011″.

Live Music, Food Trucks, Contests, and a whole lot of Gnomes! It’s time for the second annual Gnome Fest, a celebration of local music and all things gnome! This historic event, happening March 23, 2013 from 11:30am – 7pm, is sure to be even bigger and better than last year.

Guests are invited to dress up as gnomes and help Metro Gnome break a world record for the largest gathering of people Dressed as Garden Gnomes (the current record is 478). Gnome costume wearers are also eligible to win a 46” flat screen T.V., an electric guitar, and many other great prizes in the gnome costume contest at the event! There will be a category for people and one for pets. Gnome hats are available at Metro Gnome Music for $5 each, with $2 of each hat purchase benefiting the Humane Society of Southern Arizona.

For kids there will be coloring activities, contests, and a gnome drawing contest leading up to the event. Prizes will be awarded at the event for three age categories: 10 and under, 11-16, and 17 and up.

Bands & Beards! Music & Mischief! Food Trucks, Local Bands, Contests and More!

Metro Gnome Music is having their first annual Gnome Fest on Saturday, April 7, 2012 from 
11:30-6PM. This family friendly event will be the first of its kind in Tucson and is guaranteed to put a smile on everyone’s face! So, be sure to grab your picnic blanket and lawn chairs and come check out this free concert event featuring six local bands! (The Bad News Blues Band, The Bouncing Czechs, Catch the Ghost, Genevieve & The LP’s, The Ronstadts, and Under the Bridge.)

In addition to the bands there will also be some of Tucson’s best food trucks for people that want to grab a bite to eat. Food trucks to include Jamie’s Bitchin Kitchen, Guero Loco’s Bubba Que and Trucking Good Cupcakes!

Children’s activities will keep the kids happy! From a crafty table where kids can color gnomes or draw their own gnomes to a dance contest during The Bouncing Czechs.

You can get in on the Gnome fun early by participating in a Show Your Gnome contest, currently on Metro Gnome Music’s Facebook site. Post your favorite gnome image and the picture with the most likes wins a prize.

AND, for you guys, don’t shave that beard, because there will be a beard contest for the best beard! ALSO, come hungry and participate in the Gnome eating contest.
