“Goats” starring David Duchovny (filmed in Tucson!) opening on August 24
Wednesday, August 22nd, 2012Filmed in and around Tucson, “Goats” opens on August 24 at the Loft Cinema, 3233 E.Speedway.
15 year-old Ellis (Graham Phillips, Evan Almighty) is the most adult member of his highly eccentric family. His mom (Oscar-nominee Vera Farmiga, Up in the Air) is a New Age hippie that spends all of her time working on self-help rituals with her hustler boyfriend (Justin Kirk, Weeds). His dad (Ty Burrell, Modern Family) left home years ago and is more focused on his new wife (Keri Russell, Waitress) and family. And then there’s Goat Man (David Duchovny, The X-Files), the goat-herding sage who has lived in their pool house since Ellis was a child, teaching him the meaning of stability, commitment, and expanding one’s mind. When Ellis decides to leave his home in Tucson to go to the same East Coast prep school that his father attended as a young man, he easily assimilates into his new environment – even gaining the attention of a local girl who might possibly be girlfriend material. But as he re‐connects with his estranged, achievement-oriented father, he finds Goat Man’s unusual influence and memories of his more laid-back life out West pulling him in a different direction.
Local Tucson actor Victor Roych is an extra in this film and alerted me of its opening night at the Loft. I’m sure other Tucsonans will recognize local hot spots around town. Can’t wait to see this film.
Show times Friday are 12:15pm, 4:45pm, 7:00pm. Times vary so call the Loft at 520-795-7777 or log onto their website, www.loftcinema.com.
