KUAT interview of Ward 2 Council candidates

Arizona Public Media reporters Christopher Conover & Andrea Kelly interviewed Democratic incumbent Ward 2 Councilmember Paul Cunningham and Republican challenger Jennifer Rawson tonight on KUAT Channel 6.

Councilmember Cunningham was appointed by the Tucson City Council to his seat last May, 2010 after Democratic Councilmember Rodney Glassman (elected in Nov. 2007) resigned to run for U.S. Senate. Cunningham was a former juvenile probation officer. Rawson is a former businesswoman (Materials Manager at Xerox).

The Sabino Teenage Republicans was started about 3 years ago and have about 25-30 active members that meet every Friday during lunch at Sabino High School.
They have a Facebook page “Sabino High School Teenage Republicans” & hosted the only Governor’s Forum on April 23, 2010 with over 500+ in attendance (which I did attend, read my previous blog on that event, click here.)

On Primary Election day (August 30) about 4,700 provisional ballots were left to be counted as of today by City of Tucson Elections. The final vote tally is below, with 16.65% of the registered voters casting ballots in 247 precincts:

Mayor of Tucson:
Democrat Jonathan Rothschild 26,918
Democrat write-in David Karr 41
Democrat write-in Joseph Maher Jr. 64

Green Mary DeCamp 369

Rothschild, DeCamp, and Grinnell will advance to the General Election.

Romero and Baker will face off in the General (a repeat of 2007).

Ward 2 Council

These figures do not change any of the outcomes from Tuesday’s night Primary Election.
